I would be surprised if he doesn't get the most practice in at that position. The real question is, How good a chance does he have to actually START in the slot as a true freshman??

In some respects I would be surprised to see him there as a true freshman. If he gets in, I don't think it is all that often. Anae needs a certain level of reliability in order to run a play in a game. One reason our offense has opened up this year, and last, is that we are running plays in games that we've been practicing for quite a while.



So Drew Phillips may be a situation where he comes in and runs the slot, but the slot doesn't make it into the game until next year, or the year after. That being said, we're losing Andrew George, who has been playing that "superback" position--the substitute for the H-back. I can see someone like Phillips coming in and replacing Andrew George.

The one place I could really see Phillips make a difference is in punt and kickoff returns.
