AF pass defense is not that good. However if you make a bad pass (or it is tipped up) their guys can catch. How many DBs have you seen that can't catch? That is why they are DBs instead of

WR. AF is undersized but they make up for it by making the routine plays. BYU showed how goood they really are.

Yeah, because Top 25 ranked teams usually throw SIX INTERCEPTIONS against poor pass defenses.

They're not the best and they are not poor either. Maybe they are 3rd best in the conference behind TCU and Utah.

There were those that thought that Houston was going to beat Air Force good, but the one thing we've learned about Air Force, is if you have a small dline and small linebackers, they can move the ball on you. (Houston has undersized linebackers and dline)

The one thing you have to be able to do to their defense is run the ball with your good oline and stud running backs (Houston relies on the pass)

Air Force got a very favorable matchup and exploited it. AF gave TCU a great game this year too; something we didn't do.

The same strengths and weaknesses are what usually make Air Force a good matchup for us.

And yes, AF has a very good secondary; just because TCU and Utah have great ones, doesn't mean it's not possible for our conference to have a couple more.

I'd have been more impressed if you had predicted this before the game. ;)

Thanks for the info though.

It's nothing we haven't seen this season. Houston struggled vs the run, and they have very light linebackers. Vs teams that pass the ball, Houston has been very good; they beat Texas Tech (who throttled Nebraska in Lincoln 31-10) and Oklahoma State.

It was a great matchup for Air Force.

One thing to keep in mind about Air Force and their secondary (vs passing numbers) is that they tend to kill a ton of clock which gives opposing offenses less opportunity. (it doesn't help when you throw 6 picks trying to get back in the game too)

I would agree that maybe 3 of Keenum's INTs were from pressing, but he had 3 in the first half. Midway through the 3rd Quarter they were only down 11. That could be 2 plays with their offense.

I think we need to give a lot of credit to AFAs athletes and coaches.
