Former Kansas player plays in 36 games last season, throws in for the NBA, pulls out a la Childs, but doesn't go back to Kansas, opts to play at Houston and the NCAA gives him a waiver to play this season.

I need an explanation why then the NCAA wouldn't give Alex Barcello, Richard Harward and Wyatt Lowell all waivers to play this year. Especially Harward and Lowell who lost their coaching staff. I don't know that they have been denied, but actually I haven't heard anything.

It certainly looks like discrimination.

Couple more transfer waivers approved. Detroit’s Miller (Lafayette) and St. Francis (Pa.) wing Ty Stewart (Binghamton).

New (unofficial) totals for transfer waivers:

Approved: 48

Denied: 8

Still waiting: 65

Driving home listening to Ben Criddle and Cameron Jenson, one of them speculated that probably a lot of your ability to transfer depends on the school you left's attitude. Honest truth, it doesn't appear that Arizona was sad to see Alex go and that helps the process. They thought that the same might not be felt by UVU, but seeing that the head coach left there, I don't know why they wouldn't have the same opportunity. In total honesty, with the lack of Yoeli in the first 9 games and with Baxter possibly out the whole season, I was more interested in one or both of Richard Harward and Wyatt Lowell getting waivers. We need big men this season.

I guess we'll see and it seems the NCAA still has a bit of work to do.

Great news about Barcello though and I'm glad for him. From the perspective of a point guard, this assuages the loss of Emery a bit.
