byufan4everHere is the player PER (using my own formula) so far through the first 5 games:

I'm inclined to say that we need to start Lee + the 4 best other players. That would suggest starting Barcello, Toolson, Harding, Nixon, and Lee. And yes, benching Haws. I know there's a lot of grumbling about Haws and Toolson not playing well together but I think it also makes sense to separate Haws and Barcello. Those are not only our two best ball handlers, but our ONLY capable ball handlers. I can't remember which home game it was but Pope subbed them both out at the same time and we immediately turned the ball over like 2 times. We gotta always have one of them on the court and currently Barcelo even with his flaws is playing way better than Haws. Haws had a PER on ZERO against BSU. He had more missed FGs than Pts and 5 TOs.
Next is the per game stats so far:

What pops out to me are the positive shooting numbers by Barcello (50/75/50) and Harding (59.1/87.5/63.6). Those guys need to shoot more especially Harding who despite playing the 5th most minutes has only attempted the 7th most shots. Why is our most efficient scorer/shooter so afraid to shoot the ball? He's a 4 star recruit and I think it's time to unleash him.
Finally, I want to look at our 3 point shooting % and FT Attempts compared to our opponnents. Are we shooting well from the outside and are we being aggressive enough to get to the line?
CSF - we shot 45.5% from 3 vs their 35.7% and had 15 FTA vs 18
SDSU - 33.3% vs 45% and 16 vs 18
SUU - 36.4% vs 0.0% and 20 vs 10
HOU - 36.4% vs 23.5% and 14 vs 14
BSU - 29.2% vs 15.8% and 7 vs 27
So only SDSU has shot the 3 better than us and we have only gotten to the line more against SUU.
