I think the media usually falls prey to the "best player" on the "best team" mentality regardless of who the best player was period.

NM beat BYU twice.

Hobson's is their best player.

check box.

But probably each one of the media probably said when BYU beat them (except New Mexico) that Fredette is one of the top players in the country. I believe it came down to exactly what you said.

Except that Gray is UNM's best player....

Foster is not a great shot blocker. Foster is 7' 3". That's about it.

Lame...it appears our own reporters in the league appear not to even watch the games.

This just reminded me that BYU is always going to be the red-headed step child. I liked Jay Drew's support of Fredette and how he defends it. Wrubell pointed out a few weeks ago that Foster most likely would take the DPOY because of blocked shots even though as pointed out, a blocked shot doesn't always end positive whereas a steal is always positive.

I just hope that the slight given Fredette motivates him to show how he is the real POY.

Oh well. It just shows once again that these awards are always going to be politically motivated. Congrats to our four starters on at least one of the 3 all-conference teams.

You know, I realize that we never WILL get an invite to bigger and better things, but if we did, I sure as heck wouldn't feel at ALL bad about leaving the rest of this conference to ROT. This ENTIRE conference has ridden on BYU's coattails for, well, the existance of most of their programs. Which one of the Football coaches full on ADMITTED it last Media-days? The guy said something to the effect of: "We did exactly what LaVell said, and we were happy to do it." And year-in and year-out, this kind of crap happens. The conference looks for ANY reason to crack on BYU. Look, if time and again, she don't dance with the one who brought her, DITCH THE BITCH!!!

Well let's HOPE that if you're 7'3" you'd be able to block shots. If not, you're just a gigantic waste of space...oh wait... :skeptic:

Anybody else find it weird that a FOOT separates Emery from Foster, yet he averaged more rebounds? Hobson won POTY because he averaged a double-double, but all Foster is good for is clogging up the middle and sticking his arm out once in a while? That's a joke if I've ever heard one.

Were the results ever released? I wish they released the results. I'd like to know how close it was. Did Hobson just barely beat out Jimmer or was it a runaway? Did Foster block Emery's bid of DPOY or did he get a fingertip on it? Was Coach Rose thoroughly outcoached or was it a nail-biter to the end?

From outside, no less. It seems to me that a 10 foot wall ought to be able to stop the careems before they get out to the little guys on the perimeter.

I mentioned the other day how I don't think Kwahi Leonard will be on SDSU's team in two years. Anyone think Darrington Hobson might jump to the NBA this year?

In defense of Foster, he does play for the :utard: and their defense, so if he didn't block the shot, chances are the shot went in there was no rebound possible.

But there are numerous rebounds available when the :utard: are on offense. :munch: :munch: :P
