Come on, when has a team in basketball or football ever played great against us and then stunk afterward?

You mean besides Kitchen Sink University?

I just have to say that I love this team. They worked their guts out tonight. They played the best that they could play. KU shot the ball out their butts and nobody could have beat them tonight. I just like the essence of this team and look forward to next year! 8)

Just got back from the Ford Center in Oklahoma City where KSU basically had a home-court advantage in fans. From my seat in section 330 I though the game was pretty scrappy and dirty all night. The refs were letting significant contact pass while blowing whistles on some pretty minor stuff. What did it look like on TV?

Great season. Are we better next year? I have to think so as long as Davies develops defensively. He does that and he'll be a 25 min/game player for us at least.

I disagree.. Who is going to take over Miles spot next year? Do we have any big man coming off missions that will be able to compete at this level for us next year?

I WILL NOT miss JT. The guy is a disease to the team when he is out there. Abouo should finally get the playing time he deserves.

Yeah but Miles is just a body, nothing else. There's not a thing he does well besides not get backed down on defense. That's it! He can't shoot, jump, dunk, block, rebound, or do anything else a big should have minimal skill at doing. He just happens to be a big body that gets in the way. Surely, one of our tall but skinnier players can do more than that (Davies, Collinsworth). There has got to be some recruiting going on for bigs immediately or we will continue this cycle every year. If we rebound we win. It's that simple.

Agreed about JT and 10000% agreed on Abouo--he didn't see the floor enough. In crunch time you need D and stops and Abouo was the one we needed.

I would just want to say I love coach Rose. He is a great coach. I dont understand why tav was in the game. What did he do to deserve that much PT. Abouo should have played more minuetes he is our best rebounder. I hope next year we can get some big men that want to rebound. Jimmer is a great player, what a great year for the cougars.

Im hoping that Collingsworth can help give us an inside presence next year. Because if we have to rely on Anderson...god help us all...

I typed this at half-time yesterday, hit the submit order, and it did not go. So I found it still waiting today and decided to send it. I think it is still pertinent to what continued through the second half, especially considering that Pullen hit an amazing number of consecutive threes in the second half.

From half-time yesterday:

We aren't going to out-rebound these guys. But we would be doing fine against them anyway, but for one big thing. Jimmer is getting bumped and slapped around by Pullen, who appears to have an official pass to do so. Pullen could legitimately have fouled out by now with the contact he's had on Jimmer. Meanwhile, Pullen jumps laterally into a stationary JT, and the officials call foul on JT. We're in big trouble, because if these officials will not let BYU go to the FT line, then KSU simply has too much advantage over us otherwise. Jimmer seems to have been trying to dribble away from Pullen during all this, and he has been forced off from his game. If I were coaching, I would advise Jimmer to run into Pullen hard, while pullen is in close range and moving. Coach Rose has been warned to stay off court while he was trying to argue some of these calls/non-calls.

Same as UNLV the refs let the contact on Jimmer go. I have to imagine that the opposing coaches complained to the refs before the game that he was initiating contact to get to the line and so they basically declare open season on Jimmer. I was getting sick of the praise that the KSU d was getting. How they were so "fast" and keeping Jimmer out etc. If I could keep bumping him and pushing him and putting my hands on him I could nearly shut him out too! But the glaring weakness in my opinnion was the lack of an inside game. Jimmer had noone to go to when he penetrated. It was either force it or throw back out. Miles had steadily gotten worse offensively all year long and nobody stepped up. Davies did a couple of times but he kept getting abused by bigger players that just pushed him around underneath. When he fills out he is going to be a presence in the key but till then (2yrs mission and then time to recupe could make for a long wait pls send him to a poly mission because he will gain some weight).

Great year all in all and I can't wait to see what they look like next year. I would bet internal organs that Jimmer will be back next year.
