I hope your not referring to me. I said nothing about those other games. I think we will lose to washington and fsu this year. I am just saying that tcu is a marked game. we will win that game.

i expect us realistically to lose 4 games this year. i would be happy with that. more than that which is a possibility would be disappointing. i think by the end of the year though our offense will be clicking and our defense is somewhat of a question mark. if our qb situation ends up being better than expected and our tight ends step up, our offense could be great this year. our o line will be better. our receiving core will be better. our running back situation will be better. qb and tight end have tons of talent and if they adjust well to d1 play and get the basics down quick, we could be great offensively this year.

not sure that there is something in my post that would lead you to believe that I was doing anything more than expressing my opinion on the subject of "we will beat TCU this year".We have a young QB with a huge future upside, but it's always difficult to compensate for the lack of experience early on.We will be very good by the end of the season, but I believe,my opinion only, that we'll stumble some before we get there.

Yes there was, it was pretty much your WHOLE post except for about the following six words
and then TCU in Fort Worth?

Not sure what you mean about us all talking about 'feelings' and not football or the hypersensitivity stuff. i was just messin with you because I thought your comment was funny. You were obviously taking my optimism about tcu this year and applying it to some of the overly exuberant attitudes about how we will do the whole year.

Looking at it as objectively as I can, my head says we lose at least 3-4 games this upcoming year. TCU just wont be one of them :D

Some "Blue Goggled BYU Homer" you are.

I don't see how, in your mind, a 30-point loss to TCU was any worse than a 26-point loss to FSU.

Some how giving up over 300 yards rushing in 6-10 yard chunks, and forcing, what, ONE punt the whole game against FSU has left a sour taste in my mouth. And that was a pretty young team.

I guess you think that because we personally scored less points against TCU that we were MORE dominated by them? Really, I look at giving up over 50 points at home as being thoroughly "dominated".

Plus...Ponder > Dalton. No Hughes (who was 1/2 of that D by himself). Plus playing in Tallahasse in Sept will NOT be fun. Better load up on the Gatorade and pickle juice - we're going to need it.

You will never convince me that the TCU game will be our toughest game next year.

You are right about 1 thing. McBride was a GREAT coach for the :utard: . He had them all CONVINCED that 7-5 and 8-4 years were good enough. Lets hope that Whitlessham falls into that same cycle of mediocrity.

I am well aware of the history within the BYU/U rivalry – I don’t need a lesson from you. And as any true "Blue Goggled BYU Homer" will tell you - it is simply assumed that we will beat Utah by 20 EVERY YEAR.

You need to change your “Fan Level” to “BYU is OK”

One thing for sure, if we get 10-11 wins this next season it will speak volumes about our team, and especially our coaches and put us in a status with only a handful of "Programs" in the country. I feel like we are to the point where we reload, not rebuild but this next season will be the real proof in the pudding year because it only gets better from there. I don't think it's tragic with 9 wins but anything less I'll be disappointed. I'm optimistic but then my goggles are always tinted blue.

This could happen, and I agree that if this does happen it will be a statement about how really stable this program is.However if we do drop another game or two,we will still be a force to be reckoned with in 2011.I hope your prediction is prescient.

I'll admit that we got blown out a couple times last year and I don't think the root problem behind those losses has been remedied...yet. But I'm surprised that so many fans doubt that Bronco has built a program and not just a sequence of individual teams. While next year's team will have new faces, including behind center, I'm confident the 2010 Cougs will surprise the average fan.

Bronco has built a program that simply will not lose the games they're supposed to win. Meaning, the program is in such a state that no matter the level of personnel turnover we're not losing to the Utah States, San Diego States, UNLVs, Wyomings or Colorado States on the schedule.

I don't think he has built the program to a level where a rebuilding team can go on the road and win the most difficult games on the schedule at TCU, at Utah and at Florida St.

Unfortunately for Bronco, college football has been reduced to having very few games actually matter. For BYU, the season next year really only has four games that matter. Fans are only going to care about the Washington, TCU, FSU and Utah games. Those are the games that are going to matter to the average fan. Those are the games that can/will "surprise the average fan."

Yes we are reloading, yes they seem to have our number, yes they have many of their key experienced players returning and those that are not are being replaced by those on their two deep last year who seem just as impressive as the starters they are replacing, but we are due and we are going to come out hungry and prepared for that game!! Here is to Bronco working some magic in preparation for that game.

The three games that matter most to me next year are washington, utah, and tcu. I hope we go AT LEAST 2 and 3 in those.

Beating Washington would be huge. Beating Utah is always a must and would really cement the developing stats that show we own them as of late. Beating TCU would just be sweet and redeem bronco from all the criticism he has taken regarding TCU having our number.

Whatever you are smoking, pass it over here. I need it bad right now.

Is that HOPE you are smoking? That explains a lot about recent national elections...

crazier things have happened. Nobody thought FSU had a chance at beating BYU. They killed us. Nobody thought we would beta OU, we did. Bronco had been embarassed by them the last two years. TCU has now shifted their focus to Utah per their own players. They wont be up the same way they usually are and we will be at our best. Just mark it down and we can revisit this in the fall.

we are going to lose to washington and fsu but we won't lose to tcu. utah is always a toss up.

For sure crazier things have happened. For the record, a lot of us thought that FSU would give us trouble, and that we had a puncher's chance against OU. No one will ever shift their focus from BYU in the MWC. They are the team to beat every year, even when they aren't the best team. THere is no grounds to the argument that TCU doesn't want to beat us, and badly. TCU is the best team that we will play next year, even if we make it into a BCS bowl. If not for an Andy Dalton blowup against a strong BSU team, they end up 2-4 in the nation.

We WIN Washington handily, FSU could go either way but hopefully our upgraded speed defense can manage. We MURDER Utah this year, and we (along with every other team this year) get KILLED by TCU. They are scary talented, and one of the best coached teams in the nation. Their offense has been their downfall the last couple years, and it is now almost as good as the defense after they stole the "pass for 3 yards/clock control" portion of the BYU playbook. The baseball score victories by TCU are a thing of the past. IF we win this game, it will be a better win for us than the Oklahoma game, they are that good (of course it won't get recognized or represented that way in the media). With OU we had a chance. TCU, we have to play a perfect game, and disrupt everything that they intend to do... I LOVE THE OPTIMISM THAT YOU HAVE, I just want to prepare for the beating that I think we will have. Maybe we can find some way I can live vicariously through you and your optimism... :)

BYU should beat: Washington, utah (our speed and talent will give us a break out win-even if they are favored)

BYU will beat: Nevada, Utah St, MWC-excluding TCU and utah

BYU will lose: TCU, FSU (defensive speed, ACC refs, no pressure from our D)

10-2 reg season at best

8-4 reg season at worst

9-3 acceptable for a freshman Q, not for a Jr though.

This is going to be a fun year, 1-Detmer passing crazy QB or 2-Young running type QB or 3-Munns sized QB with great pocket presence and strength.

Defensively I'm pumped to watch Jordon Pendleton again, he plays the way I wish the entire Defense would.

I think you are being a lot more optimistic than me. I said we would lose to washington and fsu and utah was a toss up. you are drinking blue koolaid in my opinion on your predictions of blowing out utah and washington. tcu has killed us two years straight. i don't think they will be as up to play us as usual. they think they have our number. we will be much more motivated to beat them. bronco has been embarassed by them for two years now. you can bet that game has been on his mind. they have no reason to have that game on heir mind. they had a harder time with air force last year than they did with us.
