They had no part in the decision.

Do you really believe that?

Yes. They had nothing to add as Harvey withdrew before his ecclesiastical endorsement was yanked. What input could they have added? "We read on the blogs that Harvey had premarital sex....."

I know it's hard to believe there is no conspiracy, but Harvey nipped it in the bud before it could form.

Trust me, while the honor code office was not 'officially' involved as sno points out they were very much 'unofficially' involved. I guarantee they were weilding their righteous power in making sure that he was made an example of and that it did not appear that they could be circumvented. to think otherwise, in my opinion, ,is dumb.

You can't just say its not an honor code issue. that is way oversimplifying what went on behind closed doors there.

i personally think it boils down to that he wouldn't marry and he he got her pregnant. that was probably just too much for byu to stomach in letting him come back to play football after just the summer semesters. it wouldn't look good for byu.

Here's what I think happened:

Fact: Harvey withdrew due to honor code issues.

Fact: The Honor Code Office took no action against Unga.

Fact: Harvey can return to BYU with a current and valid ecclesiastical endorsement.

Fact: Harvey wanted to return to BYU and play his senior season.

Fact: BYU is stating Harvey cannot return to BYU until January 2011 at the earliest.

Kitic Supposition: Harvey had found a potential loop hole in the honor code, whereby he could withdraw from school before any disciplinary action could be taken against him. He wanted to take care of his situation and clear things up with the proper leaders/judges in Israel and return to BYU with a valid endorsement.

Since he withdrew from BYU he would need to reapply to the university as a returning student. However the deadline for returning students to apply for admission for the fall semester was 1 Feb 2010. Harvey missed the deadline. BYU admissions would not grant a waiver/extension/exception to the 1 Feb deadline.

So Harvey is not coming back because he didn't apply in time. Had Harvey withdrawn prior to 1 Feb and had a valid endorsement by that time he would have been able to play.

I thought the engagement was back on again?
