I was talking to a friend who plays at USU but who does conditioning etc work with several BYU guys and was in town this morning for the Memorial Day weekend to visit family. According to him, Harvey got word on Friday that the door is still open to let him come back. Considering the less-than-official announcements that Harvey couldn't get back, I wonder if there isn't still a possibility that Harvey returns?

Sno...we're all just getting over our "mourning" period, and then you have to go pour salt into the wound! Just let us all assume he's gone until/unless we see him standing in the backfield on opening day.

I was just passing on what I heard from someone who has been right in the past. Personally (as I think I have made abundantly clear in other threads) I think, giving the situation, its best for BYU and Harvey long-term if it stands as it is now. Unga coming back at this juncture would undermine too many things to have much benefit outside of football--not a worthwhile barter in my book.

I'm not sure how "solid as a rock" distracts from the idea that we might be building houses ilegally in Iraq.

I had heard this from a couple of sources but nothing terribly reputable. Thanks for posting.

I hope the marriage works, not exactly how you want to start things off.

It takes place next Thursday, the 15th. Till then, probably just typical pre-draft rumors...

I've heard quotes from Harvey's agent. I would think if he's hired an agent his college career is over, no?

Yeah, someone resurrected this thread. Harvey hired an agent over a month ago now (it was about a week after I posted this rumor), so his ship has sailed.

Wow, Round 7. Really? I thought Round 4 or 5. Guess his 40 times really hurt his draft position. Speed really does matter in the NFL and a 4.62 for a RB just is not fast enough. But best of luck to Harvey. Poor guy has to play with Jay Cutler. Hope he can play in the NFL for several years. Got diapers to buy!

I think the nature of the supplemental draft is what made him fall to 7. Whatever pick you use, you lose for next year's normal draft. It's also a silent auction, so teams will just put which round they would take a given player in, and if they're first they will get them. Harvey is a steal for a 7th round pick, but given the circumstances of this draft it was a smart move by Chicago.

8) so there were two people taken in the 7th round, the only ones selected in the entire draft.

So Can we say Harvey was taken 1st or 2nd in the draft? 8)

Go Cougars!

Players in the supplemental draft are discounted, but it doesn't have to do so much with the next year's draft as what they did this year. If a team felt like they needed a third- or fourth-round runningback in camp this year, they would have drafted one. By the time the supplemental draft rolls around, your roster is already bursting at the seams, and you are looking to cut marginal guys, not add them, and you've presumably addressed all of your needs for this season. So, you aren't going to want to pay the same price for something you don't really need. It's the same reason why when you order more than one pizza, the second pizza is only like $4 compared to that first $9 pizza--you don't need it as much, so they have to drop the price to sell that extra pizza.
