Can you imagine if BYU and BSU went BCS and TCU had just one lost where we would be in the AQ discussion?

Same place we are now, if we don't get the bottom half significantly higher in the computer rankings: begging for an exemption from the same people that want to keep us out.

If I were a betting man I would bet that the MWC never gets the AQ (unless an outside force causes it to happen). I don't care how good the bottom of the conf gets, because they have to play each other they will knock each other off and it will "hurt" the conference. It doesn't hurt the BCS conferences to loose conference games because the BCS weighs them differently. Have you noticed how the BCS conf's pull away once conference games begin. Logically all conference games should be a zero sum gain but that doesn't happen as the BCS's conf's seem to pull away from the have nots. The system is rigged to keep things as they are. I think BYU's only chance is trhough an invite to a BCS conf.

So maybe that's what the byu admin. Is seeing as well and thus the talks about going independent. I guess it beats staying in a non-aq mwc. And may potentially make byu more attractive to bcd suitors.
