Boom goes the dynamite! I don't really need to say anything, Kariya is saying it on the field and even Mars is admitting it. 8)

PS: I see us getting much better as the season progresses. I don't know how we only win eight games when we are playing Utah at the end of the season and the bowl game at the end of the season. I expect ten including the bowl win and I'll be disappointed with anything less.

We have 10 wins this year no problem...I don't understand the sentiment here. Of course my belief is that our LB core will be on par with the 2006 team, so if that assumption does not hold then we might in trouble. Anyway, there are 3 losable games this year: FSU, TCU, and Utah. That's it! And we'll beat one of those guys.

We don't lose at home so UW and Nevada upsets won't happen (plus our coaching staff gets us W's against big name teams when they have time to prepare). Therefore, 10 wins and we'll all be talking about how great DiLuigi, Juice, and Apo are by the end of the year.

Edit: Oh yeah and a bowl win makes 11.

I endorse this statement. Its all riding on our run game.

I think 8 is realistic and good goal. definitely capable of winning more than that but its definitely reaching high. look who we lost. look at our first four games. all great teams. all have great qbs who can run well. it doesn't look good when our strength is execution and being assignment sound. that will be hurt with a bunch of freshman.

10 win is definitely doable because it is assumed that we will beat tcu (by me) and beating utah at the end of the year is definitely a possibility. by that time we will be ready for them and if our defense turns out to be a suprise, then we have a real shot. if our defense is worse then last year expect a loss.

but, our running game. which running back is going to step up for us? we need them cheating because we all know jake is capable of making them pay for that and we know our wide receivers are capable as well.

JJ stated in today's Desnews:

"We have a great offensive line. Our line is going to blow up holes," he said. "So far, it's been a matter of us hitting the holes. It's a wonderful feeling, knowing four of the five starters are back on the O line."

I feel that our run game will do just fine. We ran the ball very well against a very difficult OU D-line last year, and with a year's additional experience on the O-line coupled with Kariya and LiLuigi, we should be very good. Our mix of run and pass has been gnerally equally divided over the last couple of years and I don't see that changing in order to keep the defense off-balance.

Wow, that is a big statement. If you are right, less then 10 wins would be a disapointment since the 2006 linebacking crew is one of the best BYU has ever had.

That was not his only big statement. the other that stood out was "fsu, tcu, and utah are the only losable games". in my mind that statement is way off. there are a number of loseable games in my opinion. i would even put usu and san diego state as losable games. did you watch our new mexico game last year. we almost lost that game. the sdsu game was way too close for comfort as well.

nevada, air force, uw, these are all losable

That is old BYU. New BYU has very fast, athletic, playmaking LB's to go with being assignment sound. The once in a while Morris or Kehl are now becoming the norm. Van Noy, Jorgenson, Pendalton, Stout, Fua, Kaveinga, Koeshian, Leung-Wai, Ogletree, Tautu, Santos. These are a far cry from the "slow" guys we usually have had that needed to be perfect in assignment because they couldn't recover quick enough. I bet the majority of these guys will be running down WR's and RB's on most plays on not just on occasion. I'm stoked to see them in action. I have to say Kehl and Morris are two of my all time favorites because of their speed and how big of playmakers they were. And I can see us having four of them on the field at the same time! I AM SO EXCITED TO SEE THIS D IN ACTION!!!

Well, sure technically every game is losable. Difference is last year we had a pathetic Dline and LB core that couldn't cover a soul (I can only pray we have some speed there now, which is what I'm hearing). I'm banking on this team not choking against those it traditionally would beat. Again there is no reason to expect us to lose at home so I'm not worried about UW. Nevada and Air Force? Come on hasn't Bronco proven that he can reload rather than rebuild? People are acting like we have to start from scratch, but I believe in the coaching staff's ability to get this young team ready for the season and to make the team good enough to compete for the conference.

It's easy to sit back and say well we have no experience so we'll have a rough year. However, I choose to base my predictions on Bronco and his short tenure here. 11 wins.

No pressure Bronco. None at all. Just walk on water this year, or else the fans will boo you. You can do it, right? 10 games or expect to get the boo bird treatment. And it really will be that ridiculous.

8 wins will be solid, 9 great. And over 10 a miraculous job by this staff this year.

I won't boo Bronco if we don't get to ten, I expect ten, but to say that it all lands on Bronco or that things can't go wrong is straight up BS. Is Heaps better than sophomore Max Hall? I dunno, but if he can walk on water like many of the posters on here believe, we should do just fine.

Lame. Our linebackers were very good last year. While not incredibly quick, they were smart and got the job done well. They did plenty of covering and did it well. do you even watch the games. i was at the ou game, the sdsu game, and every other home game. i saw those linebackers cover very well. the ou game is a prime example. we have more athletic and quick players in the system but it will take them tiem to learn things. i dont expect them to come out better then our d was last year but i expect them by the end of the year to be better.

The LBs didn't lose us any games last year, and the D line is supposed to be pathetic in a 3-4. Bend don't break, and giving 12 yards of cushion every single game lost us any game that people wanted to take advantage of it. It is real easy to score when you are getting 6 yards a throw. That was all to the wideouts, not the middle of the field. Sorry, play again. We will be as good this year, though, and I personally think a lot better than last year if our dbacks can put the press on, and they are looking to be able to do that this year.
