Looks like Fresno has accepted the MWC invite.... wowzers; this has taken a turn. Schmoe might have had something there.
I had to assume that BYU and ESPN has already done their due diligence with the WAC before getting to this point.
I'm kind of surprised that BYU would let this get out of control.
My apologies Schmoe, you're not half-cocked, obviously Nevada and Fresno see things like you do.
While I can appreciate and accept your apology, I still need to throw in a huge "I TOLD YOU SO" because you were so insistent that it would never happen.
I deserve it. I underestimated how stupid Karl Benson was and how much loose cash Hair Thompson had laying around (apparently it was the money meant for a quality mountain broadcast)
at this point, I'm content with BYU staying put and waiting for the Big 12 to come calling. There's too much risk involved in going independent now and no WAC to cushion the fall for hoops and other sports.
If you asked me a month ago that if we added boise state, fresno state, nevada, and say, houston, would i be happy, I'd say yes. So this isn't the worst possible case. We simply cannot lean on the WAC to keep our football and other sports viable now. (and our current share of the $$ pie just got smaller until we work out something with the MWC or the MWC gets a new TV deal)
If BYU can manage a few concessions out of this, then we're better off tommorrow than we were yesterday. (and we just got a commitment from the best football player in the state of Utah)
At least the Cougs didn't announce a thing. We still have that.
