Best option for BYU and MWC?

Ok, so everybody has been talking about all the crazy new stuff going on. Personally I think it is awesome that BYU has started a new chapter of the realignment because I felt that there was some unfinished business. Anyway I think that this could end up being really beneficial for BYU and everyone in the MWC including some other teams (Houston, USU, and Hawaii.) first this should be the lineup of teams in the whatever you want to call the new conference (Mountain WAC?) and how the conference could look.

As you can see, the MWC and the WAC would combine and take the best teams and add Houston. the leftovers could join C-USA or Sun Belt or something like that.





Also, the Champ of the MWC would play the champ of C-USA (pretty much a joke game since the number 5 MWC team should be able to beat the C-USA champ) and the conference of the Winner of the game would get all the money from that game. This would make more money even if it doesn't help the chances of getting a BCS bid.



Finally, the MWC-WAC hybrid would get a new TV deal (with ESPN - I mean look at what they did for Boise State) with BYU having the ability to rebroadcast all games.



Winners: Houston, USU, Hawaii, MWC, C-USA, ESPN

Losers: leftovers from WAC and MWC, The MTN channel

If Utah doesn't go to the Pac-whatever (which I don't know why they would do that) then they would replace either Houston or Utah State. Any feelings on Utah leaving and WHY they would stay?

UTEP could replace Houston, Hawaii, or Utah State in this scenario if Utah does go (which i still don't know why they wouldn't)

I like the name "Mountain WAC" even if it's not very likely. It would clearly be a challenge to decide how to line up the teams if your scenario plays out. But as long as BYU gets broadcasting rights, I am ok with them staying in the MWC and having more teams in the league. I would be surprised if Utah gets rejected from the PAC, but I would still take them back and look forward to the annual rivalry - even though the vicious interactions between the fans is obnoxious.



I think it comes down to MWC playing smart instead of with their pride to work out a TV deal with BYU. If not, we will just be looking for the right landing spot for our sports ex-football as we go Independent.



I have great confidence BYU will work out something that makes them better off than before this rumor mill began.

What about calling it the WEAC (pronounced weak). Western Elite Athletic Conference?

How about the MWAC, and the logo would be a duck. The league would probably run like one, too. ;)

The MWC, WAC, C-USA... good grief... why not include the Mid-American, Sun-belt and Big Sky and conferences, take all the teams which typically have losing seasons (about 2/3 of them) and call it the SDSC (Suck Dog State Conference)? :lol:

MWC: 61-52

Total W-L record for the 3 conferences: 190-192. :blush:

That's exactly why the MWC needs to grab Houston and dump Wyoming and CSU. So they have more wins and less losses on record

Part of the reason we are where we are today is that BYU has been considering what's also good for the conference. BYU is finally trying to just figure out what is the best option for BYU. If that option is also good for the MWC then that's just a byproduct of the decision and not a determining factor.
