My guess is that any concessions granted by the Hair would be for football only. I don't see Hair giving BYU up in basketball as well.

I talked to someone plugged in to the drama out of Ft. Worth, not Provo, and per her, this is what will shake down this week:

Utah State will be reinvited to the MWC, with BYU on the invitation

TCU shot down the idea of inviting Hawaii--Houston will be invited instead.

BYU will remain in the MWC in all other sports but football, and will have an agreement to schedule 4 MWC teams each season in football to help fill OOC slates.

-should be an interesting week.

Well, USU is back at the table with the MWC as of yesterday:

For this rumor to be correct the MWC would have to change its bylaws which state each member has to field teams in the 4 major sports (Football -Volleyball, - Mens BB - Womans BB). So unless they change this there is now way BYU can be Indi in Football with all their other sports in the MWC.

I don't know how hard to change that would be or if it's tied into the tv contract but it will be a very interesting next 5 days.

Quick update: My source is now telling me that BYU is infact trying to leave all teams in the MWC and going Indi in Football which tells me there isn't enough wiggle room with tv consessions for Hair Tompson to deal. How they will break or get around ;) the MWC bylaw is yet to be seen.

Well obviously they would have to change the bylaws. I'm sure if they could have a vote between the conference presidents to change it. And as we learned last week you don't even need all of the members of the conference to actually vote in order to change something.

Sounds like Thompson is running a real tight ship over there in Denver...

As to the Hawaii rumor, I don't see how TCU could shoot that down. The vote does not have to be unanimous, 1 team can't shoot any idea down.
