Boise St (7.125)
TCU (7.750)
BYU (16.625)
Air Force (49.125)
Houston (52.500)
Nevada (53.250)
Fresno St (53.750)
Average 2008-2009 ranking = 34.303 Better than every conference including the SEC
with one or more of the following:
Tulsa (71.250)
Average 2008-2009 ranking = 38.921 Better than every conference other than the SEC
Rice (78.125)
Average 2008-2009 ranking with these two = 43.277 Better than every conference but SEC ACC BE
UNLV (79.250)
Average 2008-2009 ranking with all three = 46.875 Better than the PAC10(12) and almost up to the Big 12(10)
I wonder if you could create a 10-team league with (somewhat) natural traveling partners and get a similar result:
BYU-BSU
TCU-Houston
Air Force-Colorado St
Nevada-UNLV
Fresno St-San Diego St.
Not sure about CSU's rankings, but that might possibly make the criteria. Plus making a new conference gets you out of the mtn. contract and allows you to drop dead weight. Seems like a good basketball conference too.
His rumor did not include Fresno state in the new conference. If ESPN is mad at hair, I am sure that they are equally mad at FSU and Nevada which would leave those schools screwed if this deal went through.
