I'm sure the coaches do have this all sorted out in their mind, but speculating here isn't going to affect those decisions at all and basically you know as well as I do, or anyone else for that matter, what would happen IF someone is injured.
But I believe the coaches would first turn the ball over full time to the other QB whether it be heaps or nelson and life would go on.
Well said and I understand, but I also know that some on board here are a little more connected to the program then the rest of us and I was hoping one of them would give us a little bit of insight to the decision.
I don't get what you're missing. Insight into the decision by someone close to the program isn't necessary to see that if either Heaps or Nelson got injured the keys to the team would simply be handed over to the other QB. There were only two QBs getting any reps against the first team defense. This was a two QB race the entire spring and fall camps. There are only two QBs the coaches feel they can trust the offense with.
Riley doesn't have just three plays in his arsenal that the coaches could feel could severely limit them to the point that they'd need to get Lark or Munns ready. Both QBs have large swaths of the playbook open to them. And those playbooks would be more than sufficient if needed to be operated in a full-time fashion.
