Who tweets for TaloTBS? 4pm?

Talo Stevens, a writer over at Total Blue Sports, that's who. I think he has some good inside scoop. I buy this. Bet the announcement to the press comes shortly as well. Like the second the MWC coaches teleconference ends....

Could this "source" be same person everyone talks to? How many people in the athletic department really are leaking out this info???

My source is actually from the Honor Code department because they always seem to know everything.

5- BYU has the option to go Indy by Wednesday but not name a new conference home, which would put a TON of political pressure on the MWC to change their bylaws and make a desperate, last-attempt bid to keep BYU basketball, etc. But the WCC will be there for us, waiting quietly in the background as our safety net. We wouldn't need to announce them until May or so of next year if we're still really enjoying being secretive and mysterious for as long as possible, like we are now...

I think this actually has some merit, but I heard something yesterday that I think could happen. Remember BYU only needs to annnounce it is leaving the MWC by tomorrow, it doesn't say they have to announce they are going Indy or where they are going, only that they plan on leaving next year and down the road they can release the other information as to whether they are going Indy or another conference for football.

I really like your idea of not saying anything else at all about the other sports. That would basically kick the MWC right between the legs and force them to decide who they think really holds the cards in this whole situation. I think CT may be a little too bullheaded to give in to anything BYU wants, but I could be wrong.

How about Obama? He is the top of the list. Then Scott and Hair. Oh I forgot about Satan, him too, after the above list.

thanks for what is undoubtedly the most irrelevant and moronic post ever on Cougar Corner. Oh, and Happy 1000th.

Exactly. Interesting tweet. I think it happens today, and connecting the dots from the previous days, I think it is Indy in football, with the WAC for the rest. FSU and Nevada have to stay for 2011-12, which helps BYU with scheduling, and they might even stay longer now if the WAC can get a better TV deal in place. The WAC could still pull this off and be better off than the MWC in the end.

Exactly, BYU still have 2 full seasons to figure everything out for when UNR/FSU leave. That gives them plenty of time to wait on a Big 12 invite, invite teams to the WAC, create a new conference, etc.

I'm not feeling the "create a new conference" option. It would likely be designed to be BYU-dominant (in contracts, not competition--we would try to get the best competition possible), and I just don't see many schools eager to sign up. Yes, they would jump if ESPN put up enough money, but I don't see ESPN being as eager to dish it out to a bunch of mid-majors as much as we would like to think.

Besides, who would you pick for an all-around power conference? Other than BYU, anyone good at football is lousy at basketball (TCU, BSU) and vice versa (SDSU, UNLV, UNM).

Fake account

For the conference remember football drives everthing so the best football teams and hope that their basketball picks it up. Also it needs to have lots of exposure.

Don't be surprised if we don't hear anything out of BYU until the last minute. After what the MWC did to BYU a couple of weeks ago, I don't think that BYU is going to give them a chance to react this time.

I've heard this before, and I am wonderign what you mean by "give them a chance to react"? They don't have to do anything do they? I thought the MWC was the last confernce to require notice of its members leaving. Even if BYU announces today or tomorrow, or 11:59 tomorrow night, the MWC has no time crunch to respond that isn't already there do they?

I agree, that is why I think BYU should just announce they are leaving without giving any specifics for anything including football and give the details at a later date when they don't have any deadlines, or hair, staring them in the face.

I still think this is all in flux, which is why BYU is so silent. I really think there is something to talk of a new MWC/WAC/C-USA league with hand selected teams. I could really see BYU being in favor of this. did it once before, right? If no Big XII invite, this is my next favorite option.

BYU

BSU

TCU

Houston

SDSU

AFA

UNLV

FSU

USU

Nevada

I would love it.

leave out FSU and nevada and I would be in favor of it. Pick 2 other teams. I don't want schools like them in the conference. The ONLY reason I am in favor of independance (to a certain extent) is because I no longer want BYU in a conference that intentionally screws its members, and I don't want to associate with schools that intentionally screw plans that they helped create. (Nevada and FSU helped create the plan to bring BYU into the WAC and then left for the MWC IMO intentionally screwing BYU).

Let's not pout and engage in self-defeating behaviors just so we can beat our chests. Football conferences should be regional and make geographical sense. It should have a top, a middle, and a bottom re on-the-field strength so everyone doesn't beat each other up. It needs to create a saleable fan bad and tv market package.

The one proposed above fits that model pretty well but maybe does't have enough bottom. I would vote for it. Too bad Utah is gone.

I just don't know if this could get done by 2011 for all concerned. Might need to be a 2012 deal.

I think you need to put SMU in there since June Jones has his extension through 2014. Keep it to 8 or 9 teams for the highest ranking average. Take out FSU and USU.

Wow!!! I can't believe how tight lipped everyone is being. No information is coming out of Provo. All the insiders I call don't have info or are pretending they don't know. So I come on here as someone always seems to have new info and nothing, even the tweets are in the dark.

Just announce when the news conference is already. This is drivin me crazy!!!! :skeptic:

It would be nice to at least know WHEN the news conference is going to be, so I don't have to wonder "Will it be tonight? Tomorrow morning? Tomorrow evening?"

Amen and then I can get off of the computer.
