Do you guys realize that if a big deal is made about this that an inhouse discipline could turn into a game suspension for chambers? If I were a mod, I would remove this thread.

No way man. If you do that you're helping him get away with it. The flip-off isn't a big deal until you try to cover it up. I wouldn't expect Chambers to be suspended but it looks REALLY bad if you try to sweep it under the rug.

how is it sweeping it under the rug if a message board doesn't help the media get its attention focused on it?

Chambers did in fact flip someone off. If the crime deserve a punishment, then the punishment is deserved. Personally, I think it's no big deal, but that's not my call.

If someone posts Youtube video of a rich BYU alum paying BYU football players, do we hurry and delete that too before anyone sees it? Maybe we do...

This is so ridiculous to make a big deal about.

Some time ago, here in Florida, we were having a terrible rainstorm. I has to stop for a red light and a cop pulls up next to me.

Is this your inner city upbringing coming back to haunt you? ;)

It's is.

No worse than the kid caught picking his nose on national TV.

I thought the Mutombo finger wag was nice. The bird will probably earn him a firm talking to, nothing more.

He needs some anti-fumble cream though. Got lucky with the out of bounds roll.

This is a fuss about NOTHING!! Who cares. Minor. It's football - smash - hot emotions - not Ronald McDonald's playhouse. Jeesh!!!!

I went and spent a week with the missionary that baptized me before I left on my own mission. As I'm standing with him in the downtown of a small southern Utah town, one of his buddies heads on by in a truck and honks at him. This RM flips him off grinning. I look at him in awe, as I'd never seen an LDS person doing that. He saw my puzzlement and said, "Just the way we say hello around here."

The guy later becomes a bishop and I'm sure he won't rot in hell for doing that.

OC was just saying hello. Something he probably learned in a trip to southern Utah while being here at BYU.

Anyone recall what happened to Itula Mili when he did it? I think a talking to and that is it. As far as teh big fling, I could care less that he actually did it, but am a little disappointed hat he let someone get under his skin enough for him to respond that way. I just hope it was not some BYU fan mouthing off, because I would hope BYU fans are better than that. He is a college kid after all, not a pro.

he did. and if you watch it happen live, you can see a UW player on the right of the screen talking trash to and pointing at Chambers.

I'm happy he did it! We need a little bit of a rebel or two on the team.

That's exactly what I said when I first saw it. The puppy player was clearly talking smack on Chambers... and when his own team was losing - I'd say he deserved it.

But as far as Chambers himself... he'd better hope his momma don't come onto this forum any time soon and read this  :D

Index finger twice, but then, maybe in response to someone, he turns it around and switches to the middle finger...

I sit in the north east end zone. In the third quarter, when byu was threatening, there was a pile up in the middle. One of the W players, 6 I think, was at the edge of the pile up and blatantly slugged the runner, who was down. Is that kind of action pretty frequent, players trying extracurricular hits in the midst of things?

Again. No way. Obviously no one here is obligated to be rat/whistleblower/etc about anything, but the second you hide evidence with the INTENT to protect a player from the discipline his actions deserve, you've crossed a line. The scale of transgression is irrelevant since presumably the discipline is proportional to the infraction, but eve if it's not, or whether it's a big deal or a small one, an action you personally condone or don't, it's the INTENT to thwart the system that is the problem.

Absolutely. You have no idea what goes on there. I remember getting out of a fumble pile, and I had bite-marks, and everyone had their helmets on. People gouge, bite, scratch and do everything they can to get to the ball. It is semi rediculous.

If Chambers wants to be the rebel on the team I'm okay with it. He just needs to do a better job of disguising it. Drop all the F bombs you want just don't let the refs hear you or the cameras catch it. It's never going to be worth a 15 yard penalty or a suspension.

Chambers should do more trash talking and less trash gesturing.

His thumb was clearly up which, as everyone knows, negates the middle finger. (Kind of like crossing your fingers when lying, it doesn't count) A true flipping of the bird must consist of middle finger only. I see no violation here.

I don't think that the lack of trash talking is the problem here... I would like to see a little more on the field to match that intensity and confidence. Do your thang chanbers, just don't get stupid penalties...
