It's different posters, more mature and friendly, who respond to Mrs. Chambers than who bash on O'Neil.

Are the same folks bashing chambers before the posts, the same ones praising him after? I pay attention to it and it is pretty consistant as far as I am concerned. The folks who are respectful are always respectful. the ones that fly off the handle and start calling for the firing/benching of the entire coaching staff and starting line ups are always the same posters.

My posts, and the posts of some of the others on this thread, have not changed. This has just been the first chance that some of them have had to make more friendly posts without being shouted down.

I agree. Can you name who is being "fickle"? (with proof mind you not just an accusation).

You have a point and you could be right. I HAVE seen some posters do the "flip-flop" on Chambers, but there is no need to point them out, and I'm sure I've been guilty of doing it to other players as well.

I have absolutely no problem with voicing my opinion on players that aren't performing well, but I draw the line when people start making completely unfounded accusations ("chambers has never caught a long pass down field" being a good example).

Mrs. Chambers, I don't post much but I wanted to tell you that your son attended a football clinic back in August that my 8 year old son was participating in. O'neill signed a poster for my son and also signed his shirt! I don't think my son will ever wash the shirt and he will definitely never forget it. O'neill is a great guy and a dang good football player. He now has a new fan for life in my son (I have always been a fan--and always will be). I've watched enough BYU football over the years to know that the ups and downs happen and the downs are always followed by ups -- sometimes later than we'd like, but they always happen. Thanks to O'neill and thanks to you for raising a great kid. As another poster said, 99.9% of us fans truly appreciate him and his efforts and will cheer him no matter what.

I sometimes wonder if we are no better than the Utah fans that poured beer over Max Hall's wife and family. Figuratively speaking, many posters are "pouring beer" all over our own player’s wives and families - what’s worse is that we are disparaging our own.

Some brandish the shield of anonymity so cavalierly that they forget the people and emotions beyond the computer screens and keyboards on which they type. It is my belief that anonymity on the internet should be a thing of the past.

Whenever you post a "strong" opinion or a disparaging remark about a player try adding your full real name, maybe a phone number or home address then you might think twice about saying what you do.

In case if none of you have noticed, I have said anything bad about Mama Chambers' little boy. I love the dude, he's from Florida, the state where rain is called "liquid sunshine." Of course, if my little boy and I don't get a chance to shake his hand after the FSU game, I'll be slighted irritated, but then again, I will have gotten a chance to meet him mum and dad and that will be even better.

I have enjoyed watching Chambers play for the last 2 years, and hope to see him for the next 2. I am proud to call him a Cougar.

Ditto!! The O'Neal Chambers bashing, then Kyle Van Noy, then add Coach Hill - it's gotta stop.

This is really bottom dwelling bilge!!! Way beneath the dignity of real BYU Cougar Fans. Have a little faith in Bronco & his decision making process. There is more here than anyone knows. I'll bet Mama Chambers has some good insights from talking to O'Neal - some good inside scoop. But - it's time to raise the dialogue of this site & not trash our guys!! True Blue - through & through! Trolls, posers & malcontents - beat it!

U really can't assume that everyone on here is actually a BYU fan. Some just like to stir the pot. BTW to the earlier poster about OC bring black- I think an earlier post by mum Chambers indicated that he is not black. Not that it matters. Blue Puma probably isn't actually Blue.

I hope OC has a career game Saturday against the Noles and that ball control is his top priority the entire game.

Linette,

I'm a bit late to respond because I'm on the other side of the planet now. But I wanted to throw my two cents in. Just wanted to say that I am proud to have O'Neill as a member of the program that I love. I love the BYU Cougars---I will not throw them under the bus when they lose, collectvely or individually. Regarding O'Neill, I was deeply touched that he chose to come all the way from Florida to Provo to be a Cougar. I recall how he dreamed of playing for BYU while he was still in Harmony. Even if he never accrues big receiving stats (I'm not saying he won't), he is none the less a tough, gritty, and agile player who is fun to watch. He had very good stats as kick and punt returner last year. Sometimes big events follow disappointments. I think he will make a good showing against FSU.

In summary, I think O'Neill is a fine and outstanding young man. I will be cheering for him!

Go Chambers!

Go Cougars!

Paul
