This is Heaps' freshman year and it's an all-around rebuilding year. I don't care how many mistakes he makes. This kid needs, like Barkley, Landry Jones, Jacory, etc., a year to catch up to the speed of the game. Next year we are on the big stage multiple times. If next year we are just breaking Heaps in, we are screwed. Let's get him in now no matter how many losses or picks. Again, this is a rebuilding year. Treat it as such. A reasonable fan would understand this.

I almost completely agree. I can handle a few losses, but if they pile up (say losing the next three) I would be an advocate of giving Rily another shot. If he can't win the majority of our MWC games even as a freshman I would be reconsidering his talent to begin with and looking elsewhere.

If he is throwing three picks a game and we are losing that doesn't sound like rebuilding to me, it just sounds like we have the wrong QB. I wouldn't call for his head after 1,2, or even three losses, I would be questioning his viability as our long term answer if he is throwing three picks a game and we start losing 4, 5, or 6. After that poor a season would you really think he would be a world beater next year when we are on the big stage?

In General, I don't think Heaps has looked bad (except the interception). He's been posed, stays in the pocket waiting for the play to develope, can scramble when needed, and has the pretties delivery and ball I've seen in a long time.

I hate to break it to some of you but he is the future of the program (baring injury).

Harmon just reported on Tweeter that Heaps threw for 4 TD's in todays practice.

We need to give him time to develope. There will be some rough spots and interceptions but it's a risk/rewared type of deal. I can remember Detmer throwing interceptions like they were going out of style but he was also throwing TD's and winning games along the way.

Ok lets put some understanding on the INT again. The guy that intercepted it was the CB guarding the WR in the flat. He made the INT on a pass to the deep route guy. Please explain how a guy guarding the flat is able to make that pick. I will answer it for you, it is called WR's running bad routes. They were too close that the CB was able to move off his guy just a few steps and make the pick. Had they been further apart like the play was designed it would have never happened.

You're exactly right. Not enough separation between the WR and the running back coming out of the backfield. I think it was Casada.
