"… I’ve had some bad experiences where I’ve ruined freshmen by playing them too early when they haven’t invested the time.”

Who do you think Bronco is talking about here?

O'neil Chambers?

JJ DiLuigi?

Shilo Teo?

John Beck?

Ofa Moaetae?

Who did he ruin? Is this someone from New Mexico?

I can't think of any other players that really played much as a freshman under Bronco. He obviously isn't talking about Unga, Collie, or Matt Reynolds. Who else really played a lot as a freshman?

Monson is a self serving scum. Don't read his rotten crap.

LOL. This is just the typical Monson douchebaggery. The only thing that has changed is the fan-base sentiment. For once, the fans are so besides themselves and irrational in their absolutes that Monson can speak to their souls.

This sweeping statement just reeks of exaggeration and falsehood. To be more specific, I don't know that the fan base is being irrational.

Sorry, I was only saying they were irrational in their absolutes--e.g. Anae cannot gameplan, Riley Nelson can't throw, Jaime Hill can't gameplan, Steven Thomas is not a D-I athlete etc. Therein lies the irrationality--the absolutes.

This article wouldn't have nearly as much thunder if BYU fans weren't bailing hand over foot on the coaches and the program.

Cougar fans in general have acted like the sky is falling; so when that happens you know Gmon is going to take that and run with it.

If we were united on the fact that this IS a transition year, that our team will be loaded and experienced next year and that it's ok for the coaches to handle a portion of "tryouts" on game day for the purpose of building a national championship caliber team next season, then Monson and ute fans would be much more toothless.

The Cougar crybabies are giving him a lot more fuel for his fire than he deserves.

I decided long before this season that I'd be a company man this year and accept what comes, as long as it means a better 2011. I don't think anything we've done so far means that 2011 won't be what we think it might be.

I agree with this for the most part. The tough part is that we lost to AFA for first time in 7 years. The other bad part is that we looked really bad offensively and defensively in the loss. Had the D held up better, I think many would not be so upset, but they gave up many big plays to AFA, not the most explosive team out there. I am still most upset AFA hung 35 on us than anything, to be honest.

I went into this season with the same attitude but we're not going to be better next year unless Heaps gets a lot more snaps/experience than he has been.

Sure we will. A redshirt freshman Heaps would have played better than what we showed last saturday and the rest of the team around him will be better and more experienced with or without him playing this year.

We're playing the fewest amount of seniors we've used this decade. We're playing the most inexperience in a very very long time.

Whether Heaps plays a ton or not, he'll be a better QB next year just based on experience and so will the rest of the team.

Now I wont' disagree with you, in that since Heaps isnt' being redshirted, that we shouldn't ride him. I'm fine with that considering his redshirt is gone. I'm also fine with losing game this year to benefit the future.

I'm not fine with BYU fans piling on after one loss during an obvious transition season. The game sucked and there might be a few more sucky games this season. I've preached that since day 1 this season. I've also preached how amazing the future is going to be, and it still is.

Gordon Monson can stick it; but so can every BYU fan that cant' manage an ounce of perspective.

If you're suggesting that BYU fans are wrong to have concerns after the Air Force game, you couldn't be more off-base. That's a ludicrious position.

ludicrious?

You seriously have problems if you can't differentiate concern from hysteria. (my dad would call the hysteria on this board "murmuring" I just call it whining)

(I'll help you. Wanting Austin Collie to literally break his leg or claming that milk is poison is hysteria)

Having concerns and putting nearly everyone on the field on blast are two different things.

I'm concerned, but I'm not about to let people like Gordon Monson get the benefit of it by screaming bloody murder during what we knew was a transition year.

I'm going to scream from the top of the rooftops that we still have the most talented team in the MWC (they're just extremely young) and my position and attitude will be the same win or lose at FSU too.

We got outplayed and outcoached by AFA and it might happen a few more times this season. I'm not sure how that wasnt' expected to start the season with the fewest amount of seniors in the last decade. It is a transition season; and those that can't or won't grasp that ultimately are going to be disapointed. How people handle that disapointment has been fairly clear this week.

That's my point exactly. People are saying "I am concerned with _____", and you are saying "Everyone quit being hysterical!" It's silly. That's what this board is for. You must seriously have problems.

Of course, you're probably just glad that at least no one is bashing your precious Idaho State this week.

well that's just ludicrious (your new word)

I'm pretty sure there is no idaho state anymore; they all drank a gallon of milk and ended up breaking their bones like your wishes for austin collie. Or maybe they were destroyed by that juggernaut of a team you so well respect, San Diego... (you know the one that has beaten SDSU twice in the last ten years)...

Mars wrote:
San Diego? Oh, you mean that team that usually beats SDSU

There's a difference between saying I'm concerned and asking for the head of a coach or spending even a second talking about freshmen lbolting Provo after one loss or not getting minutes... that's hysteria. If you don't see the black rain clouds on this forum right now, that probably means you are one. (I know it's a ludicrious assertion; like saying that San Diego usually beats SDSU or that milk is poison)

I just want to be clear - because I tend to muddle my feelings when try to express them. Monson sucks raw eggs. Monson is a PUNK!! I detest Monson. I despise Monson.

Understood and accepted. Although, I am guilty of thinking two out of the four of those absolutes are accurate...

Last week our center was getting worked by AFA leaving out QBs exposed. Last year, Oklahoma's center was getting worked by US leaving their prize Heisman quality QB exposed. Remember what happened. Remember how ineffectiveness his young replacement was. Notice how much better he is this year, having matured. Notice how long it took Oklahoma to fix it's inexperience at Center. Remember the Heisman QB coming back later in the season and getting knocked out again? All if you guys who claim u r looking at the ling term and seeing the big picture are not.

The coaches are looking at the next game, the future, and the big picture and are faced with quite a puzzle given the inexperience of our talent.
