Get real. He completed 70% of passes last year, and 65% against UW, and you are telling me his accuracy in the intermediate range isn't above average?

So you're telling me, that even though North America was proven to once be completely covered in ice, that it's not anymore?

Uh, yeah- That's what we're telling you. That's what the experts are telling you. That's what the reporters are telling you. That's what former players and coaches are telling you. But no, toss out a comment like "get real", put on your black trenchcoat, and dig a hole in the sand to hide your head in.

What I find humorous about this is this: Bronco, Anae, and Doman all think Riley can run a successful offense. Even after AFA. Doman admits that the package they gave Nelson wasn't the right one and that the play calling needed to improve. Yet, all the wise fans look at the second half of the AFA game as the zenith of Riley Nelson's potential.

Here's what I find humerous- all the people who voted Virginia Tech in the Top 10 at the beginning of the season probably still think VT is a top team in the country, and as soon as they win another few games they'll be eager to give them votes again to prove themselves right.

Oh, people don't like to be proven wrong? Humerous. Not predictable at all.

Riley has proven his accuracy in the intermediate range (out to 18ish yards) is above average. If defenses stack the box like they did at AFA, the solution is to run WR screens, quick outs, and passes in the flats to a releasing tailback. Those plays get the ball quickly out of the teeth of the stacked box, are high percentage plays that net decent yardage, and put your receivers in a position to break one tackle and get a big gain.

Steve Sarkisian has proven his ability to win bowl games at Washington. If teams like BYU or Oregon State play him, the solution is to beat them. That gets him wins and a great coaching record.

Really? REALLY? :bug: :gross: :skeptic: :sulk:

Bronco stated yesterday that Riley has an accurate arm. That's "expert" enough for me, along with all the statistics that back it up.

While I think that Riley is easily gameplanned for I am not ready to say that he can't win us games yet. It looked like it on saturday but i think more blame lies with the coaches for that. i will be interested to see if with the coaches help he can pass enough to avoid the stack the box problem he ran into saturday. it seems like that was his problem as usu and i have been leaning to believing that as a starter he can't move our offense.

i will be interested to see however he does this saturday when the coaches have learned from their mistakes from last game. I do think that heaps if he was given the reps would be better than riley even right now, but i can't really prove that with stats because it hasn't happened.

Bronco also thought we would beat FSU last year and AF this year. Bronco, as a fallible human being, is often wrong.

And no, the statistics certainly don't back that up, in any way, shape, or form. Dumping the ball off in the backfield does not equal having an "accurate arm". Running the ball 20 times into a stacked defense does not equate having an "accurate arm". Almost nothing you've said this week equates what you think it does.

I don't think the coaches were responsible for nelson's lack of field vision and his tucking and running so quickly. If he had failed by following the actual game plan I would be more willing to keep supporting Nelson, but with what he demonstrated I would be very surprised to see him have much success at all the rest of the season.
