Can Our Offense Get it Done?

I think we had a better shot at beating fsu than we do beating nevada this week. I go into every game optimistic that things will just go our way, but they are the 5th best running team in the nation and we are for all intensive purpsoes the worst run stopping team in the country right now.

our defense has played very well in the first half of games. its the second half where they get exhausted becasuet hey have been o nthe field the whole time that thigns fall apart.

its up to the coaches and our offense to keep the ball in their hands and out of the hand of kaepernick.

and by the way, kaepernick fixed his throwing game. He is a better passer than locker and extremely difficult to take down. this nevada offense is underrated. They are the real deal. We will have to outscore them and win the time of possession game. no more three and outs if we are going to win this game.

i imagine and hope the players are seriously energized to beat up on this team and prove themselves here at home. it really is a must win. if we lose this game most will give up on this season. i hope they are using that extra half an hour to practice. I know there are reports that jake has been staying a half and hour after practice with the receivers.

I think its on the offense, keep the d off the field and we've got a shot. Good to see extra practice time with Jake and the recievers. Hopefully it pays off on saturday.

Jake Locker had supposedly improved his throwing game this year too. And if you think Kaepernick has improved his throwing motion, you did not watch the Nevada-Cal game. Trust me, he hasn't. But, if what he has now is the improved motion, the old one must have been atrocious. Because his current motion is bad. Really low. Like almost side arm. Locker is stronger, faster, but Kaepernick more effective due to the team scheme. That offense utilizes his skill set perfectly. But he is no drop back passer. If BYU can get out ahead, and force Nevada to throw more, get them in long yardage, I like our chances. Like with UW. We clearly can not play from behind. It has been a weakness of BYU under Bronco/Anae/Hill. We need to play from ahead or keep within 1 score. We are not a team that comes from 10+ behind well lately.

I said nothing about throwing motion. I said he makes his passes. I think somebody else said he completes 70 percent of his passes so far. I watched the cal game and I saw ugly motion but throws being made effectively.

I agree. BYU's offense will need to score 35 points for this game to be a win. The only time we have even hit 20 points this year is because Washington blew their coverage on one play and left DiLuigi open. We will need to be able to have someone step up on third down and consistantly move the chains. If we cant do that then we need to play Tulsa style and go for the big play. Bottom line 117 yards passing will not win us this game because if we try to outrush them like we tried at AF we will have the same result.

dont forget Anae's awesome play calls in the red zone after jake had driven 70 yards into the red zone. That didn't help either.

I'll be surprised if BYU doesn't lose by 21+.

Remember, BYU hasn't won a game yet under Coach Mendenhall and Robert Anae after BYU has gone down by 13 or more points.

UNR 52-21. We have done absolutely nothing to warrant any optimism. Maybe it is the way for fans to be able to stomach how bad this team is right now, but those of you that think BYU has a shot, are nuts.

I am sitting at my desk with my BYU shirt on, knowing that we are going to be embarrassed tomorrow. This team has no identity, no heart. Until that happens, we are in serious trouble.

I'm always optimistic before every game. Here is why I am for this one.

1. Nevada should be overly confident. I believe we have looked much worse this season than we really are.

2. Other than at QB, we should have advantages at almost every other position.

3. I think we actually do alright against running QB's that are run first. The ones that kill us are the ones that are pass first and then after everything breaks down end up running.

4. We are at home, we are good at home, Nevada is bad on the road.

5. JJ gets 25 + touches this week.

6. Kids that haven't had success before that finally find themselves being the talk of the town tend to get bigheaded, selfish, and lazy.

7. I told god I would go to church again if we win. Once at least.

All we need is one good sack

I'll be let down if we lose. I am always let down whenever we lose because I go into every game thinking we can win it. It's weird for me to imagine driving to the stadium, wearing my BYU duds, kid or two with me, listening to Wrubell on the way, finding my seats. . .. and thinking. . .we're not going to win this one. Why would I go in the first place? Heck, I couldn't even turn on the TV to watch if I didn't think we could win. I love the passion of believing we can win, even if we find ourselves down 13 (the heck with stats). We can always win.

Rise and Shout. And I hope everyone in that stadium tomorrow, players-coaches-fans, believes we will win.

When the Cougs finally get it together they are going to be a very good team. I have tremendous faith in Bronco getting things together. Will this happen tomorrow? Well know in 24 hours. Heres to hoping the last team with the ball wins and its the Cougars.I will go out on a limb here and say if the cougs score 50(a longshot right now) They win.

THIS. We are a very young team and will get better each and every game. We will have growing pains, it's definitely a rebuilding year, but by the end of the season, if we're putting in the work, we will be a good team.

We can beat Nevada - Odds are mightily against us - We probably will not beat them - but we could and I wish I was in Provo to use my season tickets - but alas I not - but my two sons are and I guess they will get to each invite a friend.

I will likely end up listening to KSL on Internet radio and hoping Justin TV or someone else slings the video broadcast and fires up the super chat.

The only bad things about that way is the sound beingvout if synch with the video and the inevitable Mormon bashing and obcenities on the super chat.

Mightily against us? Jeeze, dramatic much? You act like we are 3 TD underdogs. The sentiments from those down on the team this week are borderline delusional. We currently are a 3.5 pt dog. So I guess we will be pulling the upset this week then, except it won't . We will finally just be playing BYU football.

These comments seem out of touch. BYU was favored at Air Force, and lost by 3 TDs. BYU was a 1-score dog to FSU, and lost by 3 TDs+. When we lose, we lose huge. It's the Robert Anae way.

I'm just excited to watch another week of BYU football. Every week has been a question mark this year, and this week is no exception. I love this game!
