Someone else mentioned elsewhere, being comfortably ahead did not make UNR go conservative in their three 50 point blowout games.

I think they were more worried about their team's mentality and stamina playing on the road. Cal was scoring too much for them to play "run-out the clock". CSU didn't offer enough resistance in Reno to fear a comeback, plus that was a payback game from last year. BYU in Provo, Nevada coaches talked all week like they were scared of us, despite our record and our performance. I think the UNR coaches were afraid of going for style points with too much time left on the clock and suffering injury or making a game-changing mistake.

A 20 play, 8 minute drive in the 3rd quarter would support yours and my theory. BYU had no answer on defense. If you play your CB's 12 yards off a running defense, then you better creep your safeties up, but BYU did neither. They were playing "prevent" against a running attack, and it was the easiest drive down the field Nevada has ever had, with multiple 3rd and 3's. The only time we actually put pressure on the qb in the 3rd and 4th, we got a pic. Coincidence? Or did we just make an adjustment with 6 minutes to go in the game that we should have made in the first quarter? Terrible defensive positioning.

Nobody is talking about firing Bronco. Show me where anyone has said that.

Nobody says those exact words, but you've got some pretty harsh critisim of him throughout this thread. So I ask you, what are you saying? Are you saying that Bronco should get you on the headset to ask you what to do next? Are you saying that he should predict your whim as to what a good football idea is? Or should he just agree with you more often? What are you saying?

What? I was responding to a typical over-reaction from Cougarbib:

So put your dream staff together. Fire Bronco first. List below all of the replacements u would like to see but first they must be willing to work for less than half what June Jones got at SMU while hearing fans whine about the big bucks they get paid.

Make your list. UW fans will let u have Sark if you want him. He makes more money though as a rookie HC. Oh, I forgot - Bronco beat him and his senior heisman #1 pick QB and returning 100 yard rusher and all everything returning receiver. Scratch Sark. Who else!

As for the rest of your post, I don't have a problem with Bronco, I think you are confusing me with someone else, maybe? (seriously, where have I posted anything against Bronco in the other 2 posts I have on this thread?) Don't follow you there... :skeptic:

The only "problem" I have with Bronco - since you asked for it - is that he gives his staff too much leway, and they aren't that good, and that he has NC aspirations, and BCS aspirations, but we don't practice all that much.

He has built a great program, and the most important aspects are being covered. (The #1-3 argument...) I would just like to see a little more emphasis on #4 with a team so unexperienced this year. Especially because a huge part of that inexperience on offense comes because of one of the worst coaching mistakes in the last decade here at BYU.

ABYUFAN... You called me out? And now you post on other threads but leave this one alone?

Yes. I thought I said my piece and that it wasn't worth fighting over. But if you want me to continue, I guess I can...

Here are your last few posts dealing with the football team:

BlueIsBetter wrote:
The question I think is, does BYU need to practice more?

The obvious answer, I think, is yes.

This comes across as Clearly your knowledge of what the team needs here is superior to Bronco's, but, you're not actually calling for him to be fired, you're calling for him to talk to you about practice schedules or something....

BlueIsBetter wrote:
They already do that (stay after and practice more). When you have a young talented team, it just goes without saying that you practice with them more, not only to get them ready for this year, but the next few as well.

We aren't playing the usual patsies anymore, and teams are finding ways to beat us. So I think that we need to make a few changes. Especially if we want to be at the top instead of in the middle.

Again, your way is way better than their way, but you're not specifically calling ofr a firing....

BlueIsBetter wrote:

Being in the game more, and leading scoring drives will calm his nerves. Right now doing throw throw throw punt we are just throwing him into the fire. We need to ease him in.

AKA Bronco's screwing up Heap's development... he should check with you about doing a better job....

Once again... "coaches suck!"

I'll admit that in reading through these, I was a bit thin skinned.... you're not calling for Bronco's firing; but the vibe that I was getting was that of negativity, without ever calling for anything specific - other than you proclaiming that you're right, and something (but nothing specific) needs to be done about our sub-standard coaching staff.

That is all I have to say on this topic. Am I free to post on other topics now?

Yes, you are. ;) Thanks for that. On a side note, I respect a lot of what you have to say. And am normally in agreement with a lot of what you post... I just didn't see the tie in to me being anti-Bronco and calling for his head? I don't think his co-ordinators are good, but that doesn't have much to do with Bronco. We lack much on the X's and O's side of thing, and I don't think I am in the wrong posting where and when I think they are in the wrong with that.

And I would love to have a "call in show" or some sort of feedback mechanism with Bronco or Anae. Especially Anae. I am not sure what he is thinking half the time. The first quarter of the Nevada game was great offensively, and then it just went to crap. Credit is given where it is due, and the opposite should be true.

Irony of irony B is B, I almost nicknamed you B I B. I digress - so in addition to the 4 or 5 criticisms in a single post re Bronco someone else just reminded you about you reply and add a couple more - he picks idiots for assistants, etc.

My "over reaction" was directed not just at your multitude of complaints about Bronco in just One post, but all the similar posts by several people in many threads.

If he really is that bad he should be fired. But I guess u r right, a couple of u geniuses just need to slap him up the side of the head and knock some sense into him.

Cougarbib, show me my supposed criticisms of Bronco on this thread, other than the one about not practicing more. I have a problem with is c-ordinators, but it would seem that so does Bronco.

Back it up, and don't mix threads like ABYUFAN did...

Bronco fired his DC, thus I guess some of the criticisms were absolutely correct. Which I guess means that Bib and ABYUFAN now want Bronco fired... :bug:

Well MARS - since u asked- and take note that I have been pretty good at biting my tongue on the 20 consecutive posts by you I found while sitting in SZlC Airport at 4:00am. I support Bronco fully.

Also note that most of the posters the various threads seem to think Hill was fired more for personality, style, and team relationships which was not even mentioned in the prior bashing I referred to which was all about supposed on the field incompetence.

Gotta catch my 5:58 flight. Catch ya later.

Hill wasn't an idiot, he wasn't necessarily a bad DC, he just wasn't the right fit for BYU.
