Ya someone should have manned up and taken a big late hit on one of their guys. Not at the knees to hurt him, but up high, hard, and late. About the only thing I like about baseball is the fact that they stand up for their teammates. I don't go to BYU and I'm not mormon so I guess I'm not held to the same level as everyone else. I'll be sending him a strongly worded tweet/email.

Wow. How far we have fallen. Really? Sending a message is not classy, sorry. We can debate all we want on the "ethics" of the play but stooping to the level of searching this guy out and tricking him into reading a message is something my twelve year old sister would laugh at. Come on guys, represent BYU as a religious school, dont stoop to nevadas level on this. Doesnt really send the message we should be sending...

Yeah, here at BYU we have no self-respect and we never stand up for ourselves and our own. Being LDS means that you just have to lay down and take whatever crap others throw on you and never, ever do anything about it, ever. Now THAT'S classy

Another good one. Have you ever read the bible?

BYU should have sent him a message during the game, instead of leaving us fans to do it. BYU is a classy organization, but that doesn't mean I can't tell a punk ass kid what I think of him on a personal level.

Way to represent the church. While you are at it maybe sennd him something slanderous towards gays. Church has a good stance on homosexuality, doesnt mean you need to...?

??? I don't get it. How did this turn into a discussion about being gay? I will tell you who is gay, number 62!!

I tend to agree with you actually in that its kind above byu to 'send him a message' but I have to say that everybody has their opinion and I don't mind others sending him a message. I personally didn't, but don't mind others feeling that it is justified. The guy takes slimeball to a whole new level. I do wish one of our players to kahuku's advise and pummeled kaepernick and then let 62 know that returning the favor.

STOP! you guys sound Ridiculous!

Lets send Bender a facebook message telling him how Unclassy he is? and a sumbag?

what are we in the 3rd grade?

I understand your frustrations and anger..

I too am Frustrated and upset. But honestly if you really were a fan of BYU and of Romney and wanted to honor him you wouldnt be sending John Bender Hate mail, But sending Romney messages showing your support and Love for him

and the BYU football team. I know Romney would not want us to send John Bender Messages concerning the hit.

yes it was cheap and dirty. If Romney can Stand up and be the bigger man and get over it,

then we should do the same.. Just sayin!

Nobody says you should just roll over. But neither should a player retaliate in an illegal or unsportsmanlike way. That certainly is not the BYU way.

A cheap shot is a cheap shot, regardless of who delivers it.

didn't know about his facebook, but I DID comment on his blog (which is hilariously egotistical if you read it some time...)

Pious? Name calling? Maybe you should read the book of mormon instead. Especially the part about the guilty taking the truth harshly.

I agree that anyone can do what they want but when it reflects poorly on byu and the church, it should be stopped. What some of you are doing is in poor taste, with possibly longer lasting effects than what bender "did" to fuga.

Be wise bretheren.

I guess I look at it as part of the game. You cheap shot us we will make sure you understand that it can go both ways. I swear if I were a player I would have planted their QB in the turf. I don't care what anyone else thought about it, sometimes its easier to ask forgivness than permission. But in my estimation it is a way to protect you teammates by letting the other team know that you won't put up with it. I have played against people that took cheap shots etc, and whenever they got it back it was a message and in just about every situation message was received and cheap shots were eliminated. Look at what happened later in the game. No message sent and the guys rips off someone's helmet. Then later finally gets flagged for his behavior.

For an example of this just go watch either "The Longest Yard" movie and the game between the cons and the guards. Message sent, message received. (Now I'm not advocating attacking a mans posterity BUT in the movies it was effective  )

BTW I did send a message to Fuga offering support. As for tweeting screw that "words will never hurt me", but a good stick on the field, ahhh I feel much better now!

I seem to remember in the Book of Mormon a certain someone commanding another certain someone to chop off an opponents head because of the opponents misconduct...

I just taught my primary kids about Elijah and the Priests of Baal. After they were proven to worship a false God all 450 of them were taken down by the river and killed. By Bible standards I think #62 is getting off easy.

BTW, this is football, lets not pretend that we need to have our 'for strength of youth' handbook out on the field. People hit each other and we cheer for them. Next time Andrew Rich lays a nasty hit on a receiver consider yourself a hypocrite if you cheer for it because the Bible & BOM don't support that kind of violence.
