It's Official. Our Offense Sucks.

Our offense is not that good right now but its has potential. If Heaps made a few more of his passes or if his receivers would have caught the good passes he made we win that game, plain and simple.



Those things can be fixed and they can be fixed this season. I have not given up on this season. After last week I am hopeful. I think we win this week. next week though will be a challenge. sdsu is motivated and has a bye this week before us.

I wasn't surprised by any of our losses (how we lost against AFA did surprise). Losing to USU would still be an upset as would SDSU - we win those games and all others excepting TCU and Utah - mark my words. Even in a rebuilding year we are still at the top three of the MWC. We need a few games against weaker competition to really get a rythm. We get that rythm against USU. The future is bright and its not as far off as some are thinking.

I think you're right. I sure hope you're right! I do think we will see a much more 'clicking' team this Friday.

Woa! Step away from the ledge. All is not lost in mudville. You just watched three games in a row where we faced two of the top QB's and one of the most difficult O's to defense. We got our lunch handed to us by AF and FSU, but Nevada was a completely different story. Our O is behind in most respects because of limited reps by the starting QB. And I would advise you not to blame "indicision" as the reason for Jake being so far behind since most people close to the program believe had Bronco made the decision to go with just one QB it would have been to go with Riley. If that is the case then Heaps would be even further behind because he would not have shared 50% reps in the WA game and he would have had virtually no reps in the AF game not to mention he would have probably only gotten 20% of the reps at best in fall camp. So as it has worked out with Riley going down, Heaps is ahead of where he probably would have been had they not gone with the 2 QB solution. Now he is getting 100% of the reps and is working out the timing with his WR's. They will start clicking and they will get it going. As for Nevada's D, they are not a great D but they are certainly better than USU and SDSU's defenses. Especially when they sit most of the game and play well rested. USU and SDSU will be teams that I beleive we will beat handily. They do not run any strange offense and neither has a top 5 senior QB manning the helm. TCU is another story but next year we drub them. I for one am sure I will not be eating crow in two weeks. The ship is moving forward and, as evidenced by the Nevada game, Jake has improved dramatically from FSU to Nevada (the first game where he got all the snaps in pregame practices). He found his targets, he made very nice throws, he got rid of the ball quicker, he just played an overall much better game. Smile the ride is going to get much better, with maybe a bump (TCU) or two (Utah?) along the way.

I hope I am eating crow all weekend. No one would be happier about it than me. Okay, probably the team. I want nothing more than to win this weekend and get some of our offensive mojo back. Potential is there, but execution is dismal. I so hope I am wrong about Friday.



But if we do lose on Friday, it tells me we are as bad as I think we are and that means that SDSU will beat us and TCU will destroy us. :~(

I like your optimism I just can't completely buy what you are selling. Borel is no world beater, but he is very mobile. That is an issue for our D. But I am much more worried about our offense. Jake did make some nice throws, but he also had some very poor throws to very wide open receivers. He will settle down and get better, but I don't see it happening in 4 days. He also made some great throws to receivers that dropped the ball.



We had multiple times on Saturday where we were out of position and/or out of sync and those things are not fixable in one week. All these things will get better, but thinking we will fix them in one week is fantasy.



There was a lot of talk about how bad UNR's D was and I agree, but our offense couldn't take advantage. We are going on the road into a very hostile environment against a team that would sell their own mother to beat us. This is going to be extremely difficult to pull off a win and I just don't see it happening.

Our SOS is #4 IIRC, so our offense will look better for at least the next couple weeks.

Dude...you did not see the 3 - 0 game against Utah. That game sucked....We will be fine...you'll see. Show me another team--Utah, BSU, whoever and take from them their starting QB, their all time leading rusher, their all time leading tight end, an NFL playing full back and not tell me they would not have struggles as well....We will be fine.

The original poster said that if we do lose to USU we are as bad as he said we are and will lose 3 more in a row making it 6. I think he is correct. SDSU killed USU Saturday. Now home and away come into play - but they buried the Aggies.



So this is a season breaking loss if we lose.



But, I don't think we need to fix all of our problems in 4 days to win this game. We just need to fix enough of them and play 4 qtrs on the road.



At home, I would guarantee a win over USU now - might not have in week 2.



On the road - I hope for a close win.



SDSU, even in Provo is a worry and TCU on the road would take MAGIC happening.
