"Several members of the TCU athletic department staff expressed trepidation over a potential move to The Big East. The trepidation is that TCU has figured out how to be wildly successful in the MWC in every sport but men's basketball, and a shift to a new conference will mean another adjustment and transition period. One coach told me there are no guarantees that the level of success the school has attained in one league will translate to another."

That's truly pathetic. It's the Big East for pete's sake, not the SEC.

Makes you wonder if TCU announces something, will Boise St., Fresno, and UNR still decide to make the jump to the MWC? I tend to think they would have a better deal staying in the WAC and renegotiating with ESPN instead of joining a crappy deal in the MWC with a TV station that is probably about to go under. Then again, ESPN might have fewer dollars to give out to them now. :D

They'd be fools not to. And if they did, I wonder if BYU's non-sports would join the WAC... probably not, but it's a neat thought.

It is called coaching job security. Sounds like some coaches are comfy in the MWC and feel secure there, and are worried that less success for their program in the Big Least might we getting canned. It is a bit wimpy and not ambitious but I understand the human nature. They fail to see the upside though. More pay with Big least $$$, higher profile for TCU, etc.

TCU has done well in football, baseball, and mens' and women's tennis. Other than those, they've won exactly one championship. That's hardly wildly successfull in all sports except men's basketball...
