Charlie Stubbs was a good OC for some schools. I grew up with his boys when he was coaching in Memphis. Lately though he has been at smaller schools, not sure if that is because coaches know he has had his day or if people don't recognize a diamond in the rough. Could also be because he has chosen to be in more low key schools, Central Missouri and now Nicholls State.

I will ask his sons how he is doing.

As far as performance so far not so good at Nicholls State.

Although before he took over last year it looks like Nicholls State was not doing good anyways going 3-8 in 2009.

Mike Leach at OC? I can see it now:

I apologize that none of my last three posts belong on a Cougar football thread. Please proceed with other options for offensive coordinator, should the position become vacant within the next few months.

As far as position coaches go, as I have been watching all of these dropped passes, I have thought over and over again that we need to pry Ben Cahoon away from the CFL. The man is a legend in that league, and nobody has stickier fingers. This year he will break the all time record for receptions in the CFL at 1007 (average of 77.46/year) (http://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/story/2010/09/29/spf-cahoon-receiving-history.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). To put that in perspective, Jerry Rice holds the NFL all-time record with 1,549 (avg of 77.45/year) from 1985-2004. How would you like to have Jerry Rice as BYU's receivers' coach?

And after watching his amazing helmet catch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPh07uN9L78" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) no one can tell me that you can't catch a pass in tight coverage, especially if it hits you in the hands.

Sorry! I didn't mean to get carried away on the LDS celebrity urban legends. I did my best to bring the thread back to the focus.

Not your fault. I inquired as to the validity of the claims.

Looks like some home teachers and visiting teachers are going to have some explaining to do. ;)

While we're at it, let's get Paul Walker and Katherine Heigl for Adam and Eve in the new temple film--they're both Mormon too....

Katherine Heigl is LDS? Or, is this one of those LDS rumors like Steve Martin being LDS or Harrison Ford running around with a CTR ring on his hand.

Amy Adams was raised LDS too.

This [hijacked] thread is no good without pictures

If Leach were OC, BYU's entire receiving corps would be locked in some dinosaur bones storage shed under LaVell Edwards Stadium.

Hill wasn't a good fit at BYU, and yet he lasted 4 years. 4 years is all I would ask for from Leach too.

Aside from that, Steve Kragthorpe has come to mind for me as well and would be a good choice. His Tulsa offenses were amazing, balanced the run and the pass, and used the TE heavily. He also specialized in trickeration.

Wait, so Ryan Gosling for DB coach because he played one in Remember the Titans?

Paul Walker for waterboy because he'll apparently take any job (have you seen Into the Blue? )?

Katherine Heigl and Amy Adams as co-offensive coordinators because they can easily distract the defense?

I dunno, guys, could we find a spot for Jewel, Christina Aguilera, and Keri Russel?

I would love Danny White to take over the team and for Bronco to just coach the defense. I know a guy can dream!

What is your hatred for Bronco? It seems every other post I read you want Bronco to step down as head coach.

Bronco has proven himself a winner on and off the field, which is exactly what BYU needs for its football coach. White would be a nice OC, if he were interested, but to suddenly fire Bronco just to hire Danny makes no sense whatsoever.

Is Ted Tollnet still living?

Or who was the non-lds coach at BYU for a year or so that tore up the NFL - Mike Holmgren?

As long as we r making the list for a position that is not open without much constraint due to impracticality - I thought I would add a few names that make mr drool.

Mike Ditka as DC

Archie Manning as QB Coach or at least as a sperm donor to be used by one of the young ladies in the photos on this thread to producexa handsome QB of the future.

George Siefert

Don James

Joe Namath for QB coach

Reporter: Why aren't the BYU receivers catching the ball?

Leach: Maybe they're thinking about their fat, little girlfriends instead of catching the ball.

But if he truly catches the spirit of BYU he would say: Maybe they're thinking about their 'sweet spirited' girlfriends instead of catching the ball.

I never once said to fire Bronco. I said for him to just run the defense. And someone else be the head coach. I think Bronco is best at the defense but not at hiring coaches or dealing with the media.

I view it as no difference. If you should remove Bronco as head coach for any reason, that's firing him from that position. I still think that his track record for the first five seasons demonstrate that he is an effective head coach. I can understand why you might not like how he deals with the media, but I don't think its enough to justify relieving him of his head coaching position.

Heresy to suggest to fire Bronco. Where is a burning stake when you need one?

I know at our meetinghouse they keep them out in the shed next to the satellite dish. It's also where they keep the armory for the ward militia. ;)
