Let's see, Coach Hill has had about 12 coaching jobs in his history? He's never been at a job longer than he's been with BYU, and all of a sudden we are to believe it was due to racism and religious persecution that he was fired and not his record on the field?

Lighten up you holier than thou rock throwing Francises.

Jamie Hill took a job in one of the most unstable of professions, college football coaching. If Mrs. Hill really is upset about job security, she never should have married a football coach. Also, because of the at will nature of the position, it comes with some added benefits that we lesser folks don't get. I've been let go from a job before and the best I got was a 2 months severance package, while Jamie gets 11 months of full salary to look for another job at a salary that would likely support his family for 2-5 years if he's frugal enough.

There are only 120 defensive coordinators in FBS football, a very tight market, but regardless of the economy, good or bad, there has never been job security in college football. It's always been you are only as good as your last game/season in coaching. With his resume, he'll have no problem getting a job elsewhere as a DB coach or such. And I am certain that Bronco will help in whatever way he can to get Jamie another job.

As for why Anae wasn't let go instead of Hill, it wasn't because of his Church affiliation, it had more to do with what does Bronco have more control over? Offense or Defense? We all know the answer to that. Please don't make excuses for the HIlls. He was let go because of his record, not because of his race or religion.

There is a D&C scripture that talks about rebuking betimes with sharpness and....

This thread bores me. Seriously, who cares.

I wish coach Hill and family the best of luck in his next position.

Anyone else think it's weird that someone is stalking Jamie Hill's wife on FB to get quotes for a message board?

Has someone seriously friended Mrs. Hill? I think you're weird if you did.

Well I think you're weird for commenting on the comment ;)

I think she was mostly joking. A lot of TIC in her post. If not, then it's a douche move. I love how it gives us all the opportunity to fight amongst each other and act holier than thou. With half the position battles done because of injury, we needed something to call each other intolerant about.

There are two sides to every coin. Do you really expect her to go online and say "Well, Jaime's defense was last in the nation in rush defense, so it was probably time for BYU to let him go."

Of course not, she's going to stick by her husband while at the same time find some other reason, rationale or not, for the firing. Her comment bothers me. Yes, she's bitter about the firing, but it also denotes that to a degree she didn't feel welcomed in Provo because she wasn't one of "us." Now some people you just can't please, but ideally it would have been nice to hear how she's going to miss living amongst us.

Many, many non-LDS that interact with us think we're stuck up, self righteous and only help our own. And, they're partly right. We tend to "shelter" our children from playing with non-LDS kids; we show "interest" in being "friends" with a non-LDS until they inform us they're not interested in hearing the discussions, so it's off to find another non-LDS "friend;" we're more than willing to go out of our way help a fellow memeber out, throw them a bone or hire them, but less reluctant to do the same for non-members.

then you better get out of coaching if you want everyone to love you. That kind of thing will definitely be worse at other places than in Provo/Orem, but it's sad that it happened just the same.

I think that that line was TIC ;)

She should be happy her husband didn't do such a crappy job at any other major university... it would have been a lot worse than having a car egged, and the firing would've come much sooner.

Sorry to be Johny Wetblanket here, but is this thread really necessary? It’s clear that you guys haven’t tried to see things from her perspective. She’s upset; losing a job in any economy is bad; but in this economy, with the need to now sell her house (that they may owe more on it than its worth), and you see why she’d very upset. On top of that – we’re underperforming on both sides of the ball. Many (including some on this board) feel that we just let go of the wrong coordinator, and the other coordinator, that wasn’t let go, despite his side of the ball performing worse on (and there are rumors of him alienating players and sowing seeds of discord) happens to be of “our religion.”

Just so you know, I disagree with her. He wasn’t fired for not joining “our religion,” but I can see where she’s coming from, and I don’t think that people of “our religion” should be Asses to others for expressing their frustration in difficult times; we should be a bit more understanding.

Um, it's not like Coach Hill was forced into this situation. He could've been a bit more grateful and protective of his job if it meant so much to him... but looking for other jobs and treating your own players (and other coaches) like crap is not a good way to do that. I understand she's probably upset, but attacking a religion and school that have treated her family so well is not the way to show it.

And then they complain when we don't hire people not of the faith or of the Mormon stereotype.

She needs to talk with Mrs. Crowton and Mrs. Chow.

I saw her facebook comment referenced in a Daily Herald article too so this thread is not the only place this is discussed.

I'm not going to be critical of her except to say that she needs to realize that this sort of stuff gets out and makes her and her husband look bad. It is like the "bad break-up guy" on Seinfeld.

I like Jaime Hill, didn't know if he was a member or not, and I still had serious doubts about him as DC last year. Great position coach...I don't know about coordinator.

Again...yawn.

She is being loyal to her husband, as she should be. Who cares what she wrote, honestly? BYU has moved on and so should we.

Graciousness by the fanbase is always the best answer. We can just wish them well on their next job, instead of looking for ways to rip Coach Hill. Seriously, it is petty. The move has been made, let's all look forward.

I just now read all of these posts. Fortunately, I didn't read who the names of the posters are.

Sadly, I am not a better man and do not feel uplifted for having read these.

No, no threads are "necessary," this website isn't "necessary," we get to discuss what we want, there's nothing on here that we "need" to discuss.
