Not in my opinion. I think the lowest point hands down was rapegate.

I agree. The Cougars could go winless for the rest of the season, and it still wouldn't represent a new low.

This my friends is what a talented young team needs. Yeah it is painful, but they will be better for it. No entitlements with this group anymore. It sucks while it happens, but this group is being tempered. They are learning it takes more to win than to just show up. By 2012, this group will be tough. Imagine if we were 3-2 now, what would this group learn? Sometimes the hard lesson quickly is better.

It is a new low. But it's not as low as we've been.

Ignoring off-the-field comparisons - where it is nowherre near the all-time low, and focusing on the on-the-field comparisons.

I didn't go back and look yet, but BYU may have had a seaosn way back when where it lost every game. Now tha twasn't the question - so sticking with the questoin - since Lavell took over

This is not the newest low because

(1) the season ain't over yet - even though it feels like it is

(2) The bad times have not lasted long enough to truly measure them

and

(3) If it keeps up and we go 1-11 and then stink it up to start the next season and have another losing season, and then another with blurry signs of improvement but not clear signs of improvement - Then we Have Crowton Gate equalled but not yet exceded.

I do not expect to see things to be all rosey - even in 2011. I do expect 2011 to show improvement, however. 2012 could be special if the team hangs together and injuries do not happen too often and especially at QB.

I hope you are right. If this is what it takes to finally break through for an undefeated season, it will be worth it.

This discussion should go beyond what colored glasses people are wearing. New Low in fans attitude vs New low in performance needs to be distinguished. This, very well could be a NEW LOW in performance in the modern era of BYU--not seen since Lavell took over. 2011 may be a bounce back, but this season, measured by itself, if 1-11, would absolutely be a new low. We expected the guy who followed LaVell to struggle--well, I did, but beside 1-11 being worse than anything Crowton put up, we are following 4 10-win seasons. Cant get much worse than 1-11.
