I predict whichever school's QB has the better Pass efficiency rating will win.

(that was for you Kitic ;) )

I am going to predict the same thing I predicted last week against USU. if SDSU scores more than 25 on us we lose. I don't even think that we win if we give up 20. Our offense has proven NOTHING this year. We scored 23 in the opener but that was with Riley Nelson able to put the ball in the end zone a couple of times and we don't have him for red zone offense anymore. I hope that the fire that the defense will have this weekend will inspire the offense too but I have no hope of that until I see it. I have 2 predictions

BYU wins:

17-10

SDSU wins

31-17

Buying and selling. Nicely done.

Yeah I am being pretty wishy washy on that huh :) The problem is, I want them to get this thing turned around really badly and don't have the heart to predict a loss, but I don't have any faith that they are good enough to do it. My wish is the BYU prediction, my reality is the SDSU one. If I were required to make an actual prediction as to what I think the real score will be closer too, it would be the SDSU wins one.

I'm the same as you. Definitely not giving you heat on that one. I would love and need a BYU win, but if I'm putting my house on it, and my family is going to be in the streets, I have to go with SDSU. If we had a bye before this game, and SDSU didn't and Bronco was rolling the D I would actually put my house on the Y. As it stands I am hoping for the best, and expecting the worst.

My  prediction: BYU 27 - SDSU 21

My real prediction: SDSU 34 - BYU 13

Then you will have an .884 chance of being correct. .884 being the winning percentage of the team that wins the passer rating battle since Bronco became the HC at BYU.

I can't get over the fact that Jake is limited to 2 great drives per game, which is where the 15 pts/game comes from. He seems to finish halves well but there is nothing doing up until those points in the game.

Should BYU try running the 2-minute offense with 15 minutes or less left in each quarter? :bug:

LOL why not? I mean at this point it's time to let the gut hang out...none of the pretty girls are looking at us anyway. A kid like Heaps has the decision making skills and confidence of a Peyton Manning type Q. He's a thinker, not just a thrower. Give the kid more leeway to make playcalls I say.

I think it may be more correct to say that if sdsu scores more than 10 we lose given our track record this year. Don't get me wrong, we can win this game, but I am not expecting a win, just hoping for one.

I am not sure how i feel about the hurry up offense given how awesome our defense has been. I say keep the ball in our o's hands as long as possible. But i guess if it gives us teh best chance of scoring then you have to use it.

Yeah, like I explained in another post, I put up 2 predictions because I HATE predicting a loss. I am hoping for the BYU prediction but expecting the SDSU prediction.

That could be why they haven't been having him run it all the time. Having said that, is taking 3 minutes off the clock to drive the ball 60 yards maybe ending in a FG worse then using 1:30 to go 3 and out?

I know that this is a complete dive off the original thread, but the defense just needs to hit people. Hit hard and wrap the tackle. A quarterback wants to tuck and run? Make him pay.

If the D steps up, and we aren't playing from behind, maybe we can run a more balanced attack and Jake will throw better and we will also get better catches too.

On a side note: We need to stop deferring the kickoffs when we win. We need the ball first. There is nothing more demoralizing to start a game then giving up a 12 plus play drive with 6 minutes off the clock for a TD.

Which is what has been happening to us. Having said that, Bronco's 1st years (05 and 06) with John Beck at QB, that is exactly what he did. But in the UCLA game in 2007 he took the ball to start and said that since they weren't moving the ball on offense very well in the 1st half, they were battling bad Field position all game and put some blame for that on the loss, he has deferred ever since then. I don't think he is going to do that to this offense. I was wishing he would go back to that when Max hall's offense had matured but he never did.

The effort against USU was extraordinarily bad. I think we could have beaten USU if the effort would have matched that shown against UNR. Likewise, perhaps two halves played like the second half of the UNR game would be enough to take care of SDSU at home. The interesting thing will be whether Bronco's direct attention will bring redemption within one week.

Interesting scenario....difficult to predict.....I would say that if our offense can find a way to score 24 points, then we have a chance to win. If the O can put up more than 30, then we will certainly win, because our D will be inspired and able to give us that window.

Totally agree. But this has been true since 2007...

Rocky Long with two weeks to prepare = disaster for BYU. We will be lucky to score 17 points and SDSU will score at least 28.

That is the best case scenario. A 28 point loss wouldn't surprise me.

BYU is averaging 15.2 ppg and giving up 30 ppg. I see those numbers staying the same or getting worse on Saturday.

BYUTX...nobody has scored 45 points on us this year, not FSU, not Nevada, not AFA. No, SDSU is not going to score 45 on us, and certainly not this week, and not at LES, and not on homecoming, and not after all that's transpired this week.

BYU 31, SDSU 15

1. No real opponent (i.e. everyone but UW) has had the need, chance or desire to score 45 points on us this year. Those teams' fans should be complaining about their offensive woes in the same way we do after we don't blow out teams like USU (most seasons), Eastern IL, Eastern WA, etc. SDSU presents the best passing QB we will have faced to this point, maybe the best we'll face all season (speaking in terms of pure passing ability) but they have great athletes and some decent balance in the run game too. This could actually be a blood bath. My point in predicting a high score for SDSU was a function of all of that and this: If we score more (which I'm hoping for), so will they. If we don't, then the score will look something like 38-17 or 31-10. I would love to be wrong.

2. I think that "after all that's transpired this week" is why we might struggle as we try to find an identity in such a short time. Look for us to get slightly worse before getting better. Again, I hope I'm wrong.

I am glad that Bronco is taking more direct control of the team, but he is not a miracle worker. I hope I am wrong but even though we are at home we lose this one 31 - 10. I hope I am totally wrong

Spot on. The reality is that some fans still haven't accepted reality which is that this team just plain sucks. Bronco taking over the D will help, but not much.

5-7 is the absolute best case scenario and 4-8 is a real possibility. A loss to WY or CSU is still lurking out there.

I do think we will break the 10 point mark this week and score 13 to 17. But it wont be enough to win. sdsu will put up a lot of points on us even with our new sense of effort. it doesn't change the fact that we are still without fuga and pendleton and possibly rich.
