Was I surprised that OC got 0 catches in this game, his first back? Yes. So did Ashworth and Hafoka. That's 3 of our top 4 guys from last year.
As far as rankings go, both Apo and Hoffman have come in and passed up our entire returning receiving core. That should tell you something. And our best WR last year was Jacobsen. Going by this game, he's still got the nod over Chambers, if not the fire or the heart.
BYU actually did a great job spreading the ball around this game...
6 passes to RBs (DiLuigi, Kariya, Hague... though none to Quezada, Mendenhall, Foote, or Folsom)
5 passes to TEs (Mathews, Meuhlmann, Mahina... though none to Wilson, Holt, Edwards, or Copier)
5 passes to WRs (Jacobsen, Hoffman... though none to Falslev, Marshall, Brown, Peterson, Cutler, Cusick, or Nelson)
JJ is our top pass-catcher right now, and despite the mistakes I think Mathews is one of the best play-makers on our team. That would put mistake-prone OC down at our #6 receiving option, and our #2 PR/KR option behind Falslev (Jacobsen and DiLuigi are right there with him, except that McKay plays scared and JJ also has fumble problems)...
