SOS

Utah's strength of schedule is actually ranked 136th. That means there are 16 teams in dii ball that play harder schedules than them???

byu is 11th hardest.

Quite frankly, this is what you can expect with a SOS that is too high. Scheduling too many "quality opponents" is an aspiration that many hope for, but can tank a season, particularly with a young team.

At any rate, hopefully these losses/adversity make them very very hungry for the next few years.

I have seen our SOS posted each week, but what good is the Sagarin to anything???

I suspect we will be #1 in SOS of opponents after Saturday.

Not that is helps us if we are 2-5. I'd rather be 7-0 with the 136th SOS, ya know(talking to you, Utah).

Wont the SOS start falling after this week however after the team hits the New Mexico, Wyoming etc stretch? Not that it will really matter at this point this year.

I personally think we should make it a point not to CARE how strong people say schedules are. Either winning is important or it's not. SOS is one of the BIGGEST tools the BCS bass turds use to keep their cartel running. There's SO much bias built into every calculation, to say nothing of the fact that the system continues to perpetuate itself when historically bad teams have to play historically good teams just for the paycheck, to keep their heads above water.

The little guys' wins mean nothing because they weren't "good" wins, yet, interestingly, the big guys' losses ALSO mean nothing because they were "good" losses.

Yeah, it's kinda cool we've played a tough schedule this year, but I'm in the camp that's really not proud of 2-4, no matter HOW hard it's been, so it's not doing us any favors. And if the reason for the topic is to laugh at the :utard: (or some attempt at solace while licking wounds), I DON'T CARE ABOUT THEM!!! Remember back in the 80's when the rivalry meant NOTHING, to us, anyway? We beat the tar out of them, they knew it, and that was how things were. It's just like an abusive relationship, the one less invested in it has the power. Utah didn't start gaining any power until we actually started caring about them. SCREW 'EM! The greatest power the team, fans, etc would have is indifference to them. If we TREAT them like every other team we demolish, they'll BE like every other team we demolish.

Sorry, two separate topics, both of which annoy me, but the same message for both of them. STOP talking about SOS. It only strengthens the BCS's position. STOP talking about the :utard: . It only strengthen's :utard: 's position!

What we need is the #1 SOS in 2 years when we can handle it.

An independent BYU that runs the table over a strong schedule will get the ranking and respect it deserves. It's just so hard for Holmoe to predict how good teams will be in the future and plan to have our best teams play at home against the other top teams (like Texas) in the country to set up the perfect year.

Here's to hoping the stars align.

Actually, Hill seems to know who is going to be weak and schedules them and Holmoe seems to know the good teams years in advance of them being good--witness this year's schedule

Regardless of BYU's SOS, the loss to Utah State makes any argument defenseless....

Ouch. Exactly. it however doesn't maket he point that the utes are not as good as everybody thinks they are defenseless.

Sorry ... I saw "SOS" and thought that someone was calling out for help. I was wrong..I got nothin' on the strength of some red team's schedule...
