frdbtrThe funny thing is, everyone says that BYU "gets better recruits" Frankly, we don't by a huge margin and kwhit had a much better base to start from. When Bronco took over, he had to rebuild the talent level from the players we lost in 2003, 2004 and 2005 from the coaching change and from the scandals. Also with the missions, the talent that Bronco has been recruiting is just getting back and starting to play. I don't think that there is that big of a talent difference myself. It also looks like utah has developed the talent better because that talent doesn't leave for 2 years like ours does. I attribute the blowouts to the lack of talent we had on defense. Bronco devised a very good plan for the defense that allowed us to hold teams scoring down hiding the lack of speed in the secondary. This is the first year that BYU has had comparable speed on defense that utah has had for many years. The defections in the middle of this decade really hurt. Offensively, we have had lots of talent but I blame the blowout losses on the defense, and then of course, max hall throwing 10 interceptions in a couple of them which made a close game into a blowout.
