Wow, where were you guys during the first couple weeks of the season when I was the only one who was saying these things. Coulda used a little support back then, but now I can just say to all of CC: I TOLD YOU SO!

Look back at my posts if you are referring to supporting Kariya. I've had his back through thick and thin.

Didn't mean to say that you haven't supported him, just haven't supported me supporting him, or something... :gross: :skeptic:

I support Kariya. In the same kind of way that the government supports those on disability.

I support Kariya, Nelson when he is healthy, and JJ. That has seldom been popular with certain posters on this site and many other sites. There is a faction that gets infatuated with recruit hype and wants to see them on the field. WHen they don't perform right away - then they have to fidn someone to blame. And, heaven help you if you are playing ahea do fone of them. See how fan sturned on OC, when he bagged on Heaps. Ironic. Now OC can't even become popular for criticizing coaching becasue he also bagged on Heaps.

That faction will argue to the death that if Heaps had been picked out of Spring camp and gotten more practice snaps, we would have won almost all of our games. They argue this even though Heaps has long been able to make all the throws in practice, but can't make many of the throws in a game - because he is a rookie. Making throws in games is the only thing that will eventually fix this along with time - maybe a lot of time. You may see Bronco taking a different approach with Heaps now, because it is becoming clear to everyone that having him throw 50 times a game was not resulting in rapid improvement. Every time Heaps shows some improvement, this faction of fans will jump on the theme of if the coaches, defense, wrs, tes, etc. had just done this or that, Heaps would have been great right out of the chutes. I fully support Jake Heaps as he is now our best option at QB. He was not our best option until Nelson got injured. And, I hope we don't end up getting him inured an d have to find out who is the 3rd best option. When you have 4 great inexperiencd QBs - you usually don't have any great QBs. Same goes for tight ends.

But fans say you can't change the BYU system to fit Nelson. Then those same fan are happy to overhaul it to fit Heaps. Ironic. That segment of fans detested Nelson because he was in the way of Heaps - who was golden withot ever having to prove it.

See next post for continuation re Kariya and JJ.

The same faction of fans detests whomever is playing ahead of Apo, Van Noy, Stout, Juice and all of Heaps buddies - even when they are injured. Now a guy gets 22 TDs on the Scout team and suddenly he will surely score 22 in a real game. Maybe - maybe not. I am OK to take a look see - but let him prove it before you assasinate the guys ahead of him.

Everyone wanted JJ out because he fumbled in week 1 or 2. They were happy to overlook that only JJ and Nelson were doing much of any socring other than Kariya - and assume Juice would just run all over and around everyone and pound it in - even though he has been on the field andn still hasn't produced much in the way of scoring. They have forgotten how giddy they were back when JJ, with all of his reputed potential for speed and quickness was recruited - because now he has actually played and isn't perfect. They guys on the bench are always perfect. And, they will eventually come along and contribute nicely.

If you judge the worth of players by points instead of hype and hope - Kariya is not the 3rd best back on this team. He is right behind DiLuigi. Juice may eventually be better than either of them - we will see over time - but he isn't right now. Juice is doing much better as a true freshman than Heaps - but then he isn't playing QB. Keep giving Juice some reps. But cut all the horsecrap of comparing yards per carry with Juice. Let's see - we give it to Kariya on 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 and he keeps getting the 1 and then we compare yards per carry. Get real.

So be happy and give these guys some respect. Kariya will give you some good gains. JJ will get some nice yards a diferent way. Kariya will make some nice blocks - maybe for JJ and Juice at times. Juice will get some nice gains. Hopefully the defense will be guessing who and when they will be getting the rock or none of them will get any gains. And hopefully Heaps will throw them off with some play action, screens, draws, releases to backs, and 1 or 2 deep throws over the top so that Wyoming can't just focus on the run on every play. Maybe we see some situational QB action from Marshall in this one.

But if we get up by a bunch late in the game - by some miracle - or Heaven forbid - down a bunch - give Lark some reps. If Heaps ever gets injured, it would be nice if Lark has had a little OJT. And don't feel like you need to castrate the poor guy on here for potentially being in the way of Heaps. If Heaps has the stuff, Heaps will keep floating to the top. Luckily, Heaps seems durable. I hope it stays that way.
