Thanks all! Just thoughts swirling in my head since the events, but I am now energized with the faith I have in GOD. I have never been one to make any excuses for any of my children but I am a firm believer in I will shake you until marbles are loose to help guide you to a better understanding of life! Failure is NOT an option and I don't do failure!!! He is still a little snot nose kid that needs a tender foot from his parents and trust it is a coming!

It also amazes me that there are people in the world that find joy in others misery, I merely wrote what I could muster out of my weary brain and they find their way here and find the need to voice the obvious. Sometimes it clears my mind when I come on here to write my lil tidbits which are really for my expression of what is going through my mind at the time. Not really to get a rise out of people but really to see posistive points of view. I am still learning on a daily basis so I doubt that my little snot nose lovebug has stopped learning or falling down getting booboos.

I can admit that yes it can get a lil old and tired but stop and think maybe just maybe he has lost a bowl of his fruit loops along the way. And as always everyone and anyone is entitled to their opinions but I welcome them all equally, thats how we learn to grow as people especially when we are all I hope GOD fearing people. I really didn't want to respond but thought hey let me give you another insight into a mothers mind that could obviously be going through turmoil because her child hasn't mastered the art of going through adversity flawlessly like a beautiful ballet or opera.

Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.

Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.

Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.

Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.

Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations.

But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is

conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.- Buddha

I meant what I said we ALL bleed blue through and through! We haven't left the building!

BoiseBYU is right. The world NEEDS more mothers like you. Children get "lost" but moms like you always know where their child is and what it takes to get them back.

Mama Chambers it was great to hear from you and I wish you and yours the best. I am sorry if I took your post the wrong way. It seems like it can be taken a few ways and I didn't take it in the best light. The worth of a human soul is great in the eyes of God, and I hope the best for your boy as a person, and a child of God.

I think you are just the woman to polish that china to a fine luster.

Dont let the haters get to you Linette. Just ignore them. You are a good mother. Your son is a good person. Nobody is perfect. Wish things could have worked out better with your son. God bless.

Wow, I just checked in and read this before heading to bed. I have really been feeling discouraged about the salt in the wounds week we have had losing O'Neil after a big loss. No doubt we will miss having him on the team. I was equally concerned how this affects Linette and family. While this still hurts, reading Linette's post and some of the good-hearted fan responses, I feel some semblance of peace and strength as we all must continue to move forward to the next opportunity and/or challenge.

We may not be out on the field, but we have the blue blood coursing through our veins.

From my heart Linette, keep up the good fight! You are precious!

I have to chime in and offer my sincere wishes to you Linette and to your whole family. I wish for O's success and whether he finds in on the field or not I know he will find it in life with a mother like you. Keep the failth and keep enjoying the rollercoaster of life. It has its ups and downs but as long as you have your safety belt (God), you get through it fine.

. . .

Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations.

I thought this was an interesting pair of lines, since the Book of Mormon has a lot of things to say about "traditions of their fathers", both good and bad.

Good luck Linette. My mom keeps telling me that even when your kids "grow up" you never stop being a parent. Keep up the good work. We all love football but not with near the devotion you have for your son.

If this were my child (and it's not), I would be much more upset with them than I was with BYU. Most football parents do not work this way.

Linette was always one of the best ones. I'm glad that hasn't changed.

This brought a tear to my eye (really). Linette, you've been such a great fan of my beloved Cougars. I want to express sincere, heart-felt thanks for your participation. I feel so badly for how things have turned out. I wish you and O'Neil the best, and hope to keep hearing from you.

My folks told me a while ago that they never prayed so fervently as they did when I got married and had a family of my own.

Linnette, God bless you, O'Neill, and your entire family. There are many praying for all of you.

Linette:

Thanks for sharing with us over the years. China can endure and get a patina and worth with age that makes it more precious to those that love it and have cherished memories with it, as long as its not destroyed or thrown away. A young man with competitive fire ought to get to be in a position and situation to have the chance to grow over the years into a mature great man and be nurtured along the way. I've had a couple of horses over the years that their owners thought were problems and gave to me. In a different situation with different individualized training and handling they became great, reliable horses and blessings to my family. I'll be praying for you and your son in his next steps. You're definitely a class act and inspiration to us and to your son. We wish you and him the best, and hope he finds a great situation next year. Adversity can break you down or it can temper and forge you into something stronger in response. Keep us posted in the future. I'm betting on stronger as OC's response, with your help.

This situation really makes me feel for people who have to grow up in public. We all made decisions we would go on to regret, but ours don't end up on message boards let alone newspapers and TV. And as parents our children will do things that we may wish they didn't (my 4 year old attacked his primary teacher last Sundary) but once again my kid's decision isn't getting dissected by media folks (although it is now message board fodder).

While I (and many BYU fans) do not agree with Oneil's behavior, there is nothing we like more than a comeback story. There are few things I respect more than someone admitting they were wrong. Take Harvey Unga for example. He broke the Honor Code and committed what I consider a serious sin, but he took full responsibility. He didn't blame coaches or BYU for his decision but rather he owned up to his mistake and the consequences. I for one respect him all the more for it.

I really hope OC can humble himself and admit his mistake (many of us have issues with play calling and player performance, but he can't handle it in that way) and that he comes back next year to finish what he started at BYU and get his degree. I believe he would be welcomed back by players, coaches and fans and he would have learned a valuable lesson too. Because if I have an issue with a boss or co-worker and handled it that way, I would get canned too.

I hope and pray that this is not an end but a new begining. I would love to see O'neil come back as a new man and return one to the house. There is still time.

I think the china of our lives is not made to be kept in a cabinet. If it gets a few chips or cracks along the way then so be it. But let us continue to dine together for therein is our joy.

Thank you for this, Linette. I truly wish you and O'Neill the best. This was very sad for me to see happen and I am sure that O'Neill is very blessed to have a mother like you at a time like this. I hope he can come back, as he has been one of my favorite BYU players the last few years. I have the picture of him returning the punt against Utah last year in my office, and it will remain one of my favorite BYU football moments for a long time. God bless.

So is O'Neill or BYU the China? I think both fit, but each side should look at the other as being the china.
