Here we are halfway through the season...

This has nothing to do with Heaps at all, it is about Riley. I just see it as a very ominous sign for a Junior QB to exhibit such terrible pocket presence that he gives up on looking for an open receiver, tucks and runs after what seems like barely checking his primary route. And then to repeat the same thing over and over again during that afa game. If he isn't able to remain in the pocket, how is he going to be effective? His effectiveness up to that point is irrelevant, as he seemed to have regressed into bad habits that could be easily exploited by defenses. I feared he was going to be our starter because I didn't see him being effective from that point on. I like the guy and wish him the best and hope he is back with the team quickly, I just don't want to see him coming back and competing for the QB job.

Anyone who still has faith that Nelson would have won any games for us after afa needs to go back and rewatch the second half of that air force game. Something happened there that undid all the coaches had been training. There is zero chance that Nelson would have won any games after that. How difficult would it have been to stop the tuck and run? He completely lost his composure and became a one trick pony. I just didn't see him becoming a QB that could honestly pose a threat through the air after that game. I'll watch a full season of what Heaps is giving us than another half like that.

I wonder how anyone still has faith in Heaps then, after he had an even worse second half against a lesser defense the next week at FSU....

There isn't a game we've won this season that we wouldn't have won with a healthy Nelson at QB.

I don't know about you guys but I was expecting an all-star, perhaps even Heisman performance from Jake this year. He's had the stars align perfectly for him this season, and there is absolutely no excuse for him to have not been putting up great numbers. What a let down.

I have to assume this is TIC. Otherwise, you simply haven't been paying attention to what has been going on all season long. To say there is absolutely no excuse is ridiculous.

This had to have been TIC.

I T al IC s is just sneaky, he hid TIC right in his handle. I guess that allows him to be sarcastic as much as he wants without ever having to call it. ;)

I agree.

I think the only game that we lost that we would have won with Nelson is possibly Utah State. I just can't imagine him playing like the second half of AF against his old school. Also I don't buy for a second that we could have beat Nevada because of what the score was in the second half. You would have to be kidding yourself if you thought it was our defense shutting them down versus their coaches putting their foot on the brake to end the game. They played ball control the whole second half and really weren't trying to score like they did in the first half. They were avoiding turnovers and running out the clock.

Most people said before the start of the season that if playing Heaps got us one less victory then playing Nelson then it was worth it. In my opinion that is exactly where we are.
