What's the latest on the D Coordinator situation? Do you think they'll hire someone or will Mendenhall keep doing it himself? I've got a couple names as possibilities, but have heard that Mendenhall likes calling plays.

**BYU Defensive Coordinator**

Well... According to your fan level -- "Fan Level: BYU is OK"

I don't feel like answering. Not because of your fan level, but because I have no idea. My two cents is... You should add a few more prospects to your two candidates you do have listed.

We'll hire another position coach, but Bronco will be DC.

Sorry about that fan level thing, I didn't even notice that was on there. I narrowed it down to those two, basically because they were the only ones that seemed somewhat logical. I had two others on my list that have connections to Mendenhall (I know it isn't necessary to hire someone you've worked with before, but that's what I base my candidates off of). The other names I had were:

Rocky Long - DC at San Diego State. Was the head coach at New Mexico with Mendenhall as his DC. Not sure about the dynamics of working for a guy who used to work for you, but I guess it's a possibility.

John Neal - DB coach at Oregon. Coached at Oregon State when Mendenhall was a player and GA. Also is a BYU grad. Just noticed that, he might have to be added to the list.

What do you think of those two?

I would love to have Rocky Long but I don't see it happening.

Bronco has made it clear that he will be the DC next year.

I'll bet after this year's problems bronco will choose to run the d until he is able to groom someone with his own mindset . . . ie popping, Scott Johnson, Andrew rich, quinine gooch, etc. Unfortunately none of them will be ready for a few years. There are probably several others of this mold that bronco would take under his wing and mentor.
