Bates knows his football. He played for on the Florida team that won the national championship in 1996. He was a defensive captain and led the team in tackles. He lettered four times in football at UF.

He also does well on his basketball broadcasts, and I think I've even heard him doing some baseball games.

I would not be unhappy if the BYUtv broadcast crew was James Bates and Blaine Fowler.

How about a Wrubbell/Lyons simulcast?!!!

I'll pass on that. I prefer neutral announcers. Wrubell, as good as he can be, is a huge homer. Some people want that, but I don't. I want guys there to call a game without fearing they get canned if they don't slant it too much for their teams fans.

I know that Wrubell is a BYU fan, but I really find his style to be quite neutral in regards to pulling for a team to win. It seems like he just is excited for and loves football. I've heard him get as pumped up for plays going against BYU as for those going for BYU.

I'm sorry but then you don't want ANYBODY EVER AFFILITIATED WITH THE MTN/MWC, because EVERY employee there wants BYU to lose. (not counting Fowler)

Worst: Hearing the Todd, James and Toby are doing next weeks game.

!@#$%&!$#@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I seriously cannot, cannot stand listening to TC. I guess the silver lining is that this will be the absolute last time we have to listen to him, not to mention the last time we will have to watch a BYU game aired on the MTN.

BYU has BSU on its schedule starting in 2012. The away games will be on the mtn., if it's still in existence then. Also, I can see some MWC teams scheduling BYU in the future once they see that UNR, FSU, BSU, and UH do not put fans in the stands like BYU does.

Unfortunately, we are not done with the mtn., yet.

The following are simply my assumptions, but:

Won't BYU be expecting to take their own broad-cast truck to any away games that had no national broadcast venue, so as to air them on byutv? I would think that BYU would make that allowance a prerequisite for any away game with a MWC team. It would seem prudent to avoid matchups with those teams if BYU cannot enjoy their new-found broadcast freedom. Of course, the MWC would still have The Mountain broadcasting visitor BYU games to ComCast's and Direct TV's limited bases as long as that contract endures.
