Just sayin' I've played against both, Martineau and C Parker and Parker is a better athlete and as good of a ball handler. Not quite the shooter, but all in all if you can offer Martineau surely you can find a spot for Parker. Parker is just a good kid, still urging his brother to go to BYU and still hoping to hop on the team at some point. Maybe it's not too late.

Martineau was a walk on his freshman year. He turned down a scholie to play for Bronco as a wide receiver. His first love is hoops and he was on academic scholarship as well. Martineau did not take up a scholarship spot to play for Rose.

He may now have a scholie, but he earned it after walking on.

As I understood it, Martineau had a deal to walkon his freshman year with a promise of a scholarship after his mission. In fact, 3 years ago I recall specific mention of this by Wrubell.

Boswell has a type of promise like this too, if he sees significant time in his sophomore year after his mission, Coach Rose told him, that he'd take care of him in his jr and sr seasons (per Boswell). Boswell turned down several D1 offers to walk-on at BYU because he likes the fact that medical school placement after BYU is the highest in the country.

I recall that too now. I do know that Nick was going on a mission so Rose knew he didn't need one for 3 years for him. The other point is that Nick turned down playing for the football team on scholarship to walk on his frosh year with Rose. My kids went to school with Nick at Davis Hi so I've followed him to some degree when he was deciding what to do.

You're right on Martineau, I forgot that he was a walk on, so he's definitely earned his keep. My insight on the Parker situation was just some inside info that I should have kept quiet.
