Jared Smoot status

Anyone know the recruiting status of Jared Smoot? Craigo, Sno, Mars, Kitic, Hawk?



Word was he is pretty raw, but had high interest in BYU. I really like his size but wonder if he is too much of a project.

I think you mean Jared Smoot. But given the commit of Isaac Neilsen and the return of Ian Harward and Nate Austin I don't think BYU will add another 6'10" player.

Thanks Kitic, I was just about to edit the title to Jared Smoot. Just did a very minor amount of research and it sounds like he has committed to Navy.

I think it's apparent that his recruitment by only small schools or a program where you owe a commitment to for your education (though a job awaits after which is a good thing with the military schools) say a lot about his current skillset.



I think Dave Rose and staff had hoped that possible Smoot would walkon and earn a scholarship, but his growth as a player woudl likely be stunted by the fact that we have a lot of other young big men in the future that also need development.



The moment Demarcus Harrison comitted to us, it was 1000% obvious that the next scholarship would be for a point guard, it was a crucial need filled by Matt Carlino.
