I can tell you that these gentlemen are very good looking over the internet. Except for me, I've never seen an ugly person over the internet.

Here is the ugliest one of the bunch, at least, that is what he told me when he sent me his picture:

you promised you'd keep our picture sharing SECRET!!

Whoops, my bad. Hawk, can you please delete this thread from the board and everybody's memory.

This is a fan site, it's also literally the best fansite for Cougars on the internet. It is getting better all the time too. I personally don't talk about other fan sites on the internet, I don't need too, they aren't as good as this one. Much like ESPN doesn't need to talk about CBS Sports, they are better. However, they do bag on the MWC and other conferences when they feel they are weak.

As for not hating Utah, I'm sure that's a function of you not living in Utah. I contend that no true BYU fan can live in Utah without running into enough hatred and bias that you can't help but not like the Utes.

Seconded. This is not a news site. If you want news, go to ESPN, or sign up for TBS. This is a site to discuss news that is happening in the cougar world. What makes us excited, what bums us out, and to develop ideas and relationships. If that is not what you are looking for, you are barking up the wrong tree.

It is funny that so often those that preach tolerance, really want intolerance.

Nice Podcast gentlemen! That was a fun listen. Living in Idaho makes it tough to make it down to anything outside of a good saturday football game but I'd love to try & hook up with many of you and put names and faces together. Also, any info that is heard about the couples camp in the summer or the spring game and open practices would be very appreciated as soon as they're known.

Thanks guys!

Go Cougs!!!

I somewhat agree but have picked up on CB bagging over here - which I totally agree is unnecessary, because the forum over there has been basically dead for more than a year. I haven't posted a hundred words over there in over a year and probBly haven't read more than 3 or 4 threads in that timeframe. I find Cougarboard, which gets called Rumorboard over by some, to be so awkward to follow that I have probably only visited it 3 or 4 times. I am a supporter of CC and I really intend any feedback as something to make it even better. I am too cheap to pay for Gurney or whomever it us over at TBS so I don't know how good they are. My son subscribed for a while. He seems to like Cougarboard. Once in a rare while ge hears something before I do - not often.

I do appreciate that you aren't sitting still and are trying to innovate.

Having said all of that, it is good to co-exist positively with others. I really like your news headline link box when I use my home PC. My work PC, for technical reasons related to our core system requiring it for now, has an older version if ie and thus the news box ends up underneath instead of to the right and I forget it is there. My problem not yours. But my iPhone and iPad don't see them at all. You can work on that. When I travel, which wS most of the last two months, I have my work oc, iPhone, and iPad - I really missed the home pc.

For the news box, if it is possible, I suggest removing links to articles that tease but can't be opened without subscribing to TBS, etc. Or at least note that on the link, because it is annoying to cluck and wait and go and then get nothing.

CB does have value and you could tap into that value or do something similar. U am not talking about the Forum part. They are part of the Daily Herald and have two sports reporters who write articles, have media access to BYU sports, and attend and report on BYU games. I had linked to their Twitter / text messaging way back when, but when Franchuk or the other guy write something, I get email and text message notification, also Tweets of rumors, announcements, and live game action. Neither writer will get a Pullitzer prize any time soon, but this stuff is useful.

So link to it or do the same thing. It seems that DH articles are excluded from your news box.

Get a press pass. Write some articles. Attend all the games and tweet highlights. Good stuff. The world is no longer black and white - no longer all or none - Coopetition is all around us. If you are already doing some of this just tell me where the button is and I will sign up.

Bibs free idea of the day: Implement an optional twitter feature that would tweet me each new headline that pops into your news feed box right when it pops in. That feature would make your site immediately better and you can have that idea for free. I have built forums, blogs, wikis, Facebook, and Twitter stuff work related and as a public service for my high school - so I may on occasion have a valuable suggestion and I am happy to share them.

If you saw the Movie The Social Network, all I would ever expect in return for a good idea would be appreciation and acknowledgement. Other than that - it is free.

Go Cougs

Just a clarification that may ease some of your minds. I am a big Max Hall supporter. Remember. I took a lot if heat for defending his legacy when everyone was bagging on him. Then he became an icon and a cult figure by hating Utah and everything about Utah after beating Utah. Then he won a Bowl game to boot. And I almost totally agree with Max Hall. There is a very vocal and highly deplorable minority of Utah fans that I absolutely hate. They are an embarrassment to the University. I have sat on about the 50 yard line amongst Utah's wealthiest boosters (BYU games only that I recall), and I have seen shocking behavior to the extent that soddam and Gomorrah came to mind. I have called out the U of U President for not having the guts to call out this minority of fans.

So let's improve our recruiting and depth and we are well positioned for the near future if new coaches don't mess us up - and let's just beat them every year, every game, every sport. That is all it would take.

A couple of things. First Hawk. Hopefully you have big dreams for your site. You have to know that all of your fans do not live in Utah. I get that some people in here hate Utah and I am perfectly OK with that. As I said elsewhere, there is a very vocal minority of their fans that are disgusting and embarrasing and everything Max Hall said. I am just suggesting that you corral the Cartel that tries to gang up and assasinate anyone that does not hate Utah, Anae, etc. Someone made an interesting Doman / DuPaix post asking whether the cronyism is a good thing if Doman ever needs to kick his butt or rein him in. You may have the same dilemma here. I suggest you announce who, other than you, are officers, advisors, policemen, or just sacred cow friends so that there is not the perception that they can blast away at people with impunity while others are not allowed to blast back. This is a great site and can be even greater if it distinguishes between staff and customers and has staff held accountable as to how they treat customers. I know - we don't pay you - but you do want customers. Maybe the mgmt team should use their real names.

That brings me to Blue is Better. We butt heads quite often. I am trying to be respectful and will again here. Blue has 3 times posted terse directives to me about what I can and can't post on a thread (run in one was on his sign up poll petition to remove Anae where it was not clear that no dissenting opinion was allowed to be posted), some recent post where I was told "WE" will not allow QB2 to be discussed again on this site or some CARTEL - "WE" thing ike that, and here where Blue is letting me know that "this is not a news site" ironically right before he goes on to tell me it is a site for among other things getting BYU "News". If Blue is an official of this site - just let me know and I will treat him as such. If not, perhaps you could let him know that you asked for input - not for people to attack anyone who provided input they didn't like or agree with.

It seems to me this is a "News Site". The box over to the right "News Briefs" being an example. I love that feature. I get that it is a "SPECIAlTY" NEWS SITE re BYU related news. But where do you draw the line. People posted all kinds of news about Cam Newton when the scandal broke. I might write a post about him going early to the NFL. Why. I hate the BCS. I hate the SEC because they are the BCS and obviously play it to their advantage winning 5 BCS titles in a row. THe SEC and BCS regularly screw BYU. News about BYU players and coaches past, present, and future. All great stuff. News about UCLA, USC< ND, and UW have been on here. But we compete with them for recruits. Seems to be relevant to me. If Blue is in some official position to speak for what this site is or isn't just say so. Otherwise, don't let his limited vision for your site limit yours.

I am reminded of a start-up I was asked to be President of. I turned it down and took my job in Hawaii instead 9 years ago. I turned it down, becasue the inventor, and he was brilliant as an inventor, could not let go of his original vision and family and friend founders enough to let the company morph where it needed to go. He would not move it out of St. George even though that is not an easy place to try to lure large corporate customers. Vegas or LA or the Bay area maybe even Phoenix would have worked better. He would not sell or take investment money from Waste Management - worried that it might be Mafia money. He wouldn't deal with people from the Bay area - didn't want any Gay money or management. Anyway, the only success his company had was completley outside the originally envisioned market - cleaning sewer water and landfill leachate to make it potable. It was in plastics recycling and cleaning the water used to clean the plastic. But he did not morph enough and Saturday I got a letter indicating that bankruptcy was being filed. I am just saying that imho, you have a great site that can be a respectful place for BYU fans whether pessimistic, realistic, or blue goggled to respectfully exchange and debate views with no favoritism, good ole boy network, or cartel behavior allowed and grow this even bigger than it is. Maybe it can even be monetized as it evolves = as in Facebook has been monetized but it is still free. Thanks for listening. And I will continue to work on a more respectful relationship with Blue - maybe we start with that ironic last sentence.

Blue - if you are ever in Honolulu area PM me and I will buy you a rootbeer float or some Pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) or some sushi. If you have handyman skills - bring some tools and come stay at my house and help me fix some stuff.

I don't recall the podcast being as disrepectful as you seem to be implying. It was our first effort, I imagine the podcasts will improve and "mature" to certain extent as we gain experience.

It really wasn't horribly negative. I only recall there being a smidge. I am trying to be constructive rather than just saying great job, which IMHO, is not helpful. But just in case it is helpful, and I think I already said this in other words in my original post, great job. It was very good. I liked it, especially the human element about how you all became fans. It was interesting. And just like players can always work even harder even when they are already working hard, there was room for improvement. Hawk made it clear he wants to remain the best and keep improving. So anything I have contributed is meant in that vein. I think CC is the best free site right now and I am too cheap, actually it is a matter of principle, to pay for something you should be able to get for free, so I have no idea if HB Arnett, or TBS have anything better. My goal is to help CC become and remain so dad gum good that I never get curious enough to give them a try. As CB learned the very, very hard way - once they leave they ain't coming back. So let's keep everyone here. I salute Hawk for what he has created and for not resting on his initial success. You cannot rest because the rest of the world always has someone who isn't.

Thanks for the feedback, Bib. I know I can certainly get better, as can CougarCorner. I enjoy the fact that it is the best, but I have no intention of resting on my laurels either. I welcome feedback from all sources.

I think Bib was volunteering to get press passes for everyone, and pay for season tickets, flights and hotels to all the games.

I think under such a scenario we could generate a bit more content... ;)
