I heard when I was at the MTC, that in the basement of the visitor center at Adam-ondi-Ahman they already have 144,000 padded folding chairs ready to be set up for the big shindig that will happen there.

Was that TIC?

First I miss the altar and now I missed the visitors center?!?!

They don't have a visitors center!

I'm just telling you what I heard in the MTC. The MTC is full of great rumors like that.

Work with me here.

Let's assume there was an alter left over from the Garden of Eden still standing by AD 33. I think we'd also have to assume that a primitive stone structure built in the GofE would not withstand a three hour earthquake. I'm just sayin'.

The Nephite altar could be newer. And may have been in use as recently as 400 AD if Moroni walked thru there on his way to Cumorah. It could very realistically be around.

Next, let's assume Sno's really Everyman. Any rock remotely near the site has been picked up, picked over and put on a shelf in a location other than where it was found.

Finally, I have received a mission call. It does not have a location or a specific date. It only asks three questions:

1) how well do I navigate between Mandarin and Cantonese,

2) how quickly could I develop a logistics plan to move 40-50,000 young adults from locations in approximately 120 countires to Asia, and

3) how much lamp oil is in my food storage.

Then there's a number to call, but the area code isn't one I am familiar with. Couldn't find it on google or Wikipedia (and the letter cautioned me not to share the number outside my immediate family). I am only to call when I have my affairs in order and am ready to receive the specifics of the call.

I already have my Adam-ondi-Ahmen signature folding camping lounge chairs for the big day. Was I the only one who saw them at Cabela's?

Sometimes I don't know if people are serious or joking?

It is not clear whether Adam-ondi-Ahman is named such because it is where Adam originally lived after leaving Eden or where he will live again when giving an accounting of his entire posterity. Many have attributed the quote to Joseph Smith on the Adam altar issue, but they are mostly third hand accounts if that. Hence, still a big unknown surrounding the area's history. What is not unknown is its future.

According to Orson Pratt, Adam-ondi-Ahman is from the Adamic language meaning "Valley of God, Where Adam dwelt".

I don't recall any such references from Joseph Smith about any of Adam's altars. Joseph did talk about Tower Hill being the place of an old Nephite altar. That's in Church History vol. 3.

As for the history that you said is unknown. We do have D&C that gives us a brief history. Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, and Heber C. Kimbal dedicated a plot of land for a future Temple(mob forced them out before they could build) So I'm sure there is more info in their journals or the Journal of Discourse that I am unaware of at the moment.

I'm sure at one point we knew tons of knowledge on the sacred site. Its just been lost or forgotten over time.

Oh, the rumors get a lot bigger than that. My in-laws had people stopping in on their way home from other missions and asking them where the entrance to the underground city is. "Oh come on, you can tell us. We're fellow missionaries..."

Oh man, that's way too funny. Good old LDS rumors.
