Rose for MWC COY

I agree that Coach Rose deserves to be coach of the year. I don't think he will get it. I think Jimmer deserves to be Player of the year. He might get it, however, I can see him sharing the honor. I think Jackson deserves to be Defensive Player of the year. I don't think he'll get it either. The excuse for Rose and Jackson will be,

"the team wouldn't be as good without Jimmer." It will be hard to explain when Jackson shows that he can be a solid team player post college and BYU continues to win with players that were overlooked or underrecruited by the Big Boys. However, at that point, noone from the Mountain West will care (they probably don't care now, but they might at least pretend).

COY - Miles

co-POY - Fredette and Leonard

DPOY - tall guy for Utah

No way in Laramie does the MWC allow for Rose, Fredette, and Emery to get what they deserve. I would laugh if Fredette gets NPOY but only co in the Mt West. What a joke.

Foster won't get DPOY. His blocks are down a full block a game.

Lots of basketball yet to play, but Dave Rose outcoached Steve Fisher last night.

Any chance the MWC would crown both Jimmer (supposedly the best player in the conference) & Rose this year, or do they say Rose had Jimmer so someone else deserves COY?

SOrry for the two empty posts above. The system keeps dropping my reply. Maybe that is a new Cougarbib ignore feature that has been implemented. During quick edit the edit fails and it drops th eoriginal comment as well.

So in fewer words -

MWC COY - BYU has exceeded the expectations that people had for this team even knowing that JImmer was returning. Most did not expect them to win at UNLV or CSU and even the CBS C announcer guaranteed an SDSU win at half-time Wednesday. The way Rose used the bigs (the very same bigs everyone thought were awful he coached to become bigs people were praising on naitonal tv Wednesday) off the bench early to manage foul trouble and used Jimmer to offset cold shooting by others was unexpected. That physical defense was unexpected. If BYU wins out through the MWV tournament and at least to the Sweet 16 - UNDENIABLE. MWC COY. It has to be undeniable or BYU won't get it.

MWC POY - See above. but Jimmer has a much easier remaining journey than Rose. But he does need to keep exceding expecations and make it undeniable.
