Yea and if his co-players would get the memo that he is trying to create more assists, they might pay attention and actually be ready to catch his pass. All too often they are as surprised as the defense that he isn't taking the shot and the ball glances off of their hands or bodies out of bounds.

I think the critique was fair. This was not a great performance, but it was a win. Best positive is that Abuou and Emery played well. Good to have supporting guys get it done when the star struggles--which he did. And you take a win over Utah anyday. But not a marquee performance overall. Lacked balance.

I have noticed that Rose has really shortened his bench the last few big games. That is telling. Looks like in big games, only about 7-8 guys will get many minutes at all. In the UNM game, 6 guys got more than 10 minutes, vs. SDSU and Utah only 7. Rogers is the wild card who could get more when he plays well. But BYU is basically in a 7 man rotation in tight games. At the MWC tourney, more guys gotta contribute or that could be a real issue with 3 games in 3 nights.

I have issue with the way Rose used Rogers in this game. A guy that rebounds well, shoots the ball well, and with the way he had playing as of late should have been rewarded with more playing time. I mean use a combination of Abou/KC/Rogers at the 3/4 when Noah leaves the game. Another thing Rose needs to look into rotating Davies and Noah at the 5 more. We can't afford for both of those guys to be in foul trouble, especially with Anderson being somewhat injured.

If Jimmer's 12 point run had happened in the 1st quarter and we were up by 12 at the half, we wouldn't be talking about what a tough game Jimmer had.

EDIT: Anyone else think that the way BYU has held the nations attention with football (independence announcement, not so much the playing part) and basketball this year, the pac-10/big12 is regretting not locking BYU up earlier?

So I guess I'd have to ask you why you think the PUKE12 picked Utah over BYU? I thought it was clear that they did it as they needed a 12th team that had some glow to it (2-BCS wins), a Sweet 16 run, and a gymnastics national championship (I'm stretching here). It was obvious that it was not based on the issue of potential money source, number of conference championships won, etc. as BYU has them beat in every aspect. They may not be as liberal as Cal and other west coast teams, but we know where BYU stands on that spectrum.

So, no, I don't think they are regretting their decision yet because it appears that for what they were looking for, Utah gave them that and BYU didn't. There was no logic to this decision, so we likewise need to analyze the decsion in that light as well. Those schools didn't want a school like BYU that stands for more than just being a university. As much as we love ourselves, for the most part, everyone else's relationship with us is a love/hate relationship. The MWC is in almost the same boat as they stupidly made the decision that it was better for them to try to punish BYU than work something that was a win/win like keeping BYU's other sports in the MWC if they were going to go to a point where they were going to invite a school like Hawaii just for football.
