It ties for the highest a BYU basketball team has ever been ranked.

I'm just curious how all this exposure and ranking is affecting some of our recruiting prospects. I would think anyone we approach has got to know that Rose is a great coach and the Y is a program that will take them as high as they are capable of going.

I think if you are a guard or like an uptempo game, you have to be loving BYU. If you are a slow down, post up player, then BYU might not be your cup of tea. BYU has struggled developing those skills recently and it would be nice to have them, but it does not fit our current style either. I do wish Davies had more skills playing back to the basket ball. He needs to develop a got to move. Once he does, he will take a major leap forward.

I've thought this year has kind of dispelled the notion that BYU can't develop big guys. Davies and Hartsock are both better. I think it also validates our opinion that Wardenburg was the weak link on the coaching staff.

I don't know if I consider Davies or Hartsock "bigs" because they don't play like a true big. Kind of like Tim Duncan and Okur aren't true "centers".

But they both have improved. That's for sure. Is Hartsock a Sr?

No, he's a JR. And while Duncan and Okur may not be true centers, they're certainly still "bigs." Just like Davies and Hartsock are our "bigs" whether they're the "true" type or not.

Completely agree with you there. And they have improved so I'm not complaining. I would like to see a true bruiser in the post, but not many teams have those, and I don't know how it would fit in with BYU's style anyway.

I think our lack of a true bruiser in the post has more to do with the players than the coaching. I also think it's become quite clear that our coaching staff got better with the subtraction of Coach W. Who was a good guy, a good recruiter, but a poor coach.

And one win against UAB away from being #1

True everyone ahead of us had lost that day and all we had to do was beat unranked UAB on the road to claim #1 at 18-0. We lost by about 30 iirc and got exposed for not being able to handle tough, physical opponents when not getting the calls on fouls. The officials in the MWC may be doing us a favor right now, because that is likely what we are going to see at the Dance with any team that has the athletes to pull it off.

Did anyone else notice how hard the officals tried to give the game to Pitt at the end of regulation and at the end of overtime. Serious whacking right under the basket that got ruled as clean blocks.

Watching the other top teams, PITT SUCKS, wow they just SUCK, same with DUKE, I only worry about OSU and KU, I think we could take ALL THE OTHERS, maybe not Purdue, but the Big LEAST reffs keep trying to give PITT wins,
