Arslanian has a 10.67 100, 21.74 200, 48.58 400, 40.14 300 M hurdles, a 23.3.75 long jump (best in state) and a 7.08 60 m. Wow, the kid likes track! He even had a 5'10" high jump as a jr.

However a kid named Dallas Burroughs ran a 10.34 100 which is an Idaho state record. He also ran a 21.06 200 and had a 22.5.25 long jump. That's all I could find on him at this point. I don't know if he plays football but someone ought to look into it.

Hey Urroner - your Carlos Echavarria has one thing going for him - he seems to be very mature!! LOL! No problems with homesickness & wanting Mommy. Ha-ha-ha!!

  ;)

The opposing coaches would attribute BYU's success to their maturity.

I wonder if the HC would be an issue.

From what I understand, the HC shouldn't be a problem. The picture was taken when he was a young man many years ago and he has since given up cigars, except to chew on.

Suggest Hawking move this post to recruiting section with his graduating class year, name and position.

Recent article if BYU.scout indicates that he really like BYU but is praying to find out if that is where he should be. Sounds like the QB situation between Heaps and Nelson might be causing him to re-evaluate his options.

I read the article and was suprised to hear that BYU was interested. Jake plays for Pine View High School here is St. George ( alma mater of players James Lark, Carter Mees, David Foote, Riley Stephonson). I saw him play live a couple weeks ago vs Canyon View High school and my observations were

-Dang that kid has great break away spead.. He made kids look down right slow.

-he needs to put on weight to play d-1

-he has great hands

- that Pine View needed to use him more ;)

Here is a link that will show you his stats for the year.... By the way Pine View is a running team so his number of receptions is low.

Committed to BYU post mission.

"Arslanian, who is also a two-time state champion in track, will compete on the track team for the 2012-2013 academic year, will go on a two year LDS church mission and come back in the fall of 2015 to sign his football scholarship and play for BYU.The Pine View Panthers had three sign this afternoon, headlined by wide receiver Jake Arslanian, who chose BYU over Stanford, Nebraska, UCLA, Arizona State, University of Utah , Boise State. Weber State, and most of the Ivy League schools."

This is great news - albeit under the radar for most people. With his commitment, we have three players on the team who ran track and are very fast: Arslanian, Hinds and Weeks.

I luv getting fast - talented kids. Especially if we steal them away from Stanford (which is rare).

Jake Arslanian recently placed first in both the 100 and 200 meters with times of 10.85 and 21.66 at the BYU Invitational. He narrowly missed out on a three-event sweep, finishing second to Riverton's Cole Lambourne in the 400 meters.

Note: Arslanian was the Idaho state champion in both the 100 and 200 meters a year ago before moving to Utah.

He has a unique scholarship at BYU in that he committed to run track and to play football this past February.
