If you read Bronco's comments this week, it's pretty obvious that he and the coaches are convinced and determined BYU can run the football on anybody, and they're going to keep trying to do it. He wants the run game to setup the passing game. Historically, BYU always did the opposite, because they were not a great running team, so they came out throwing the football and then began slipping in draws, traps and some running plays. In those games BYU had very little rushing yards by halftime, but would have 200 passing yards, then the rushing plays increased.

I have never bought into the notion that you must run first to setup the pass. Come out slinging the football, throw it all over the field , get some TDs, then start running. What does it matter if you run first or pass first. BYU is never going to be an NCAA leading rushing team, so throw on first down, second down, third down, the whole first drive of the game, run when the run is there, but throw the ball, get Heaps and the receivers into a groove and just throw it.
