The 5 Main Issues (They're very fixable)

The main problems as I see them:



1) Brandon Doman is a brand NEW offensive coordinator and does NOT have things going yet---the offense is confused and has been unable to settle down and do the little things = big problems. Give him some time and experience...and hopefully get him up in the booth where he is removed from the emotion of the game.

2) Our "veteran" offensive line has been a joke (possibly somewhat caused by point 1, but I am not impressed with our o-line coaching). False starts, illegal formations, blown blocking assignments, collapsing pocket, terrible run blocking, you name it! When these guys get it together it may solve nearly ALL of our other problems.

3) Heaps can be a GREAT QB but he needs to grow a pair and man up. Period. If he does this, he will be nearly unstoppable. I saw the "it" in the scramble and long throw to Hoffman. (Point 2 will also help solve this).

4) I don't know that the team will be successful until we can get at least some sort of a running game. Not sure if it's Dupaix, our backs, or scheme, but being able to run the ball will solve ALL kinds of problems. (Point 2 is likely a huge part of this.)

5) Our cornerbacks and Uale are getting torched. The corners seem to play well when they play right in the receivers faces at the line---let them do this. Secondary has always been a problem with Bronco's defenses, I don't know if we'll see this one change. Everything else could possibly change between now and the next game (unlikely, but possible).



I see good things ahead...we just need to get these few things above together. Any additional insights?

The most important factor by far is that our run game absolutely sucks. I think Heaps is a wuss and will never have it, but he can't be expected to throw all game because our sorry RB's only get 2 ypc.

The most important factor right now is that we have a highly inefficient passing game. We have an inaccurate passer who simply is not good right now.

Because passive for over 300 yards sucks, and running for 11 yards is not a read flag....

Yes, but at this point in the season he literally has to throw for a 1st down on every set of downs because the running game absolutely sucks! Heaps is sorry and our RB's go down on the first arm tackle.

Hey, I went from being dissapointed about 1 TD after ole miss, furious about 1 TD against texas and just happy BYU got a TD during the Utah game. My expectations have dropped like a rock. I'm getting a big (or small) bag of confetti to throw around my living room for every TD scored! If BYU's only getting one a game, I'm going to make the most of it.
