PAC 12 not expanding!

ESPN is reporting tonight that the pac 12 has decided they are not going to expand......I don't know much, but I do know we now have a glimmer of hope in this whole superconference soap opera. Thinking I might pay 11 percent this Sunday. ;)

Missouri might be leaving the Big XII for SEC land...

SEC reports they have not offered Missouri. This is a stupid soap opera.

I just want our Offense to meet their potential!!! All the Conference expansion drama is like 7th Grade dating drama.

Sounds suspiciously like what the SEC said before actually inviting aTm. I'm not holding my breath at this point.

Two points--



1) If Mizzou really wanted to leave the Big XII for the SEC, they would have jumped on it without knowing the Big XII's fate. I think Mizzou's still holding out for a Big Ten invite or maybe they think UT might be serious (think $$$) about keeping the Big XII together. Plus, I think they realize that they'd be more irrelevant in the SEC than even A&M because they don't have as fertile recruiting.



2) Even if Mizzou goes, the Big XII can stay together. Mizzou has always wanted the Big Ten and I think the Big XII has always known that.

All the conference expansion talk the last two years have been prime examples of shoddy, lazy journalism. When people are letting Twitter drive reporting this is what you get. It's a complete joke with no one having any idea what they're doing or saying. But just saying anything so they can be the first one to report it and they'll just ignore any false report they previously gave.

Bingo. I think there is a lot to your post. The rumor mill is so fertile & with the internet, txt'ing & especially Twitter. It keeps spinning faster & faster. No one is verifying anything.Twitter is now a leveraged negotiating tool - part of the process - trial balloons, etc.

This. If you throw enough predictions out there, odds are you'll happen to get one right sooner or later.

this is the first evidence I've ever seen that the Pac-12 might actually be an academic conference with some intelligence at the top.

...at least not until they say something different.

I wonder if Utah was involved in the discussions. I have to imagine that they (the admin from Utah) are close with those from BYU. From everything I have ever read or heard it is mostly just the "fans" and to a degree the coaches and players that see in a heated manner. So I wonder if say the pres of Utah and the Pres of BYU are pretty good friends would the pres from Utah vote against expansion knowing that it would help BYU. Could be way off base but I wonder.

I attended a J. Reuben Clark Society meeting where both Cecil and Michael Young spoke. It was shortly after the Max Hall comments, and Cecil made a half-joking remark that the two universities have a long-standing tradition of cooperating and assisting each other, "even if our athletes don't necessarily like each other" (or something to that extent).

I've wondered similarily. Yet they did leave us in the dust for the P12. I don't fault them too much,but I thought there was this agreement to stay together conference wise
